Look for a fat, old guy in a yellow Lions Club shirt. Please say hi

I am about 50 miles from where the show will be- we have chances of rain off and on for the next few days, but I don't expect it should be a problem for the show. We had rain early this morning for about an hour, then it cleared out and was sunny for awhile. Now cloudy and grey again but no rain.
I would be surprised it the show is negatively affected. We are a LONG was from where the tropical storm is hitting. Usually doesn't cause much rain, if any at all, this far north.

Got a few tree jobs here to wrap up before I go.
Need to use money I saved for trip and expenses for 1-2 weeks of work before I get 1st check.

But when I get back I should easily be able to buy a high end gun if I want and pay all my bills ahead for a few months. At least.

I hope as many people as possible left before that hit.

Winds in it were no joke.....but the rain....just wow!
Guess missing a gun show isn't to bad when you think of bigger picture.

My heart and prayers go out to anyone who stayed for that hurricane.

ASC hosted the 4th annual Texas Airgun Show (2nd year at ASC) this past Saturday, and the event turned out very well. The hurricane in Houston created some light rain showers during the day that kept attendance down a little from last year, but everyone in attendance was glad for the cooler temperatures. If anyone was worried about the rain damping the activities, you shouldn't have. The main show is inside our large pavilion, and all of the ranges are covered, so even if it rains you would only get wet walking between the pavilion and the ranges. I heard many compliments on our beautiful facility, and the fact that we are lucky to be able to shoot so many different types of guns and airguns (and archery!) in one place. Attendees also complimented on the professionalism of our local Straight Shooters 4H program, who were providing food, drinks and snacks all day for donations. Way to go SS4H!

We had a pavilion full of vendors and individuals selling airguns of all types. New ones, old ones, rare ones, etc. Prices ranged from $20 to as high as $4500 for multi-pump, spring, CO2, and high pressure air powered airguns. We also had 3 ranges filled with folks shooting airguns. The activities started with rifle and pistol shooting on our cowboy action range courtesy of guns provided by Sig-Sauer, Umarex and, Crosman. Many folks commented on the realistic performance of Sig-Sauer airguns, in fact that is the main selling point of their airgun line; practice with a cheaper alternative to the real thing even in your own backyard. Over on the next range, we had folks trying out Field Target shooting, and then big bore airguns (.25-.45 cal.) shooting at silhouette and swinger targets all the way out to 100 yards. I believe the big-bore airguns continue to surprise people with their power and accuracy and ability to take down large animals at realistic distances. Finally, on our 50 yard range we had people trying out rifles before they buy, and an experienced airgun shooter (OzarkAirgunner) with his chronograph sharing knowledge with folks that may be new to modern airguns and measuring the performance of an airgun they were shooting. The final major activity at the show were the prize giveaways.

The SS4H group was selling raffle tickets to shoot the guns on Range B, so that you would be entered in a drawing for guns from Sig Sauer, Umarex or Crosman at the end of the day. One of the vendors, AirForce Airguns and a commentator with a YouTube following, IraqVeteran8888  https://www.youtube.com/user/Iraqveteran8888 (https://www.youtube.com/user/Iraqveteran8888) , were so impressed with the SS4H members, that they each pledged $400 ($800 total) to the raffle on Range B, and then gave away all of the tickets to each of the kids. Most of the prizes on Range B were won by the kids who had large smiles on their faces and thoughts of new shooting opportunities in their heads. Many thanks to AirForce Airguns and IraqVeteran8888! We also gave away 8 air rifles (Air Arms, Hatsan, Kral, Umarex, and AirForce), a pair of Hawke binoculars, a Sun Optics rifle scope and a Sun Optics spring compressor inside the pavilion. The grand prizes were an Air Arms limited-edition RSN 70 PCP valued at $4000, and a .308 caliber Texan air rifle and scope from AirForce Airguns valued at $1100.

A very successful end to our second show. Thanks very much to everyone from the ASC that volunteered and to the leadership of our club that allows this show to take place at our facility, and thanks to Tom Gaylord, The Godfather of Airguns, who is our inspirational leader for airguns here at the ASC.

I got up at 5am and it was pouring down. The radar showed the rain from the center of the hurricane well pass us here in Magnolia. I went back to bed. Radar is now showing bans reaching up to the Dallas area so y'all stay dry. This is the second year I have had to miss the show maybe next year.

You should've made the drive Ricky.  Rain cannot dampen the fun at our airgun show.  Hope to see you next year.

Jeff:

I had a great time at the show. You, the range, and the 4-H Strait Shooters did an excellent job.

Yes, incredible job on the show. The range is awesome! I think the $1 to 4H for 10 shots and a raffle ticket was a great idea. Kept the line for the range orderly, but accessible. Those kids seemed to be having the time of their lives, too.

Thanks for the compliments.  ASC is proud to support our airgun community and the SS4H program.

Just wanted to say thanks to Jeff and all the folks that helped to put together a great air gun show. As a first time vendor I was made to feel very welcome and had several hosts check on me to see if all was going fine. Was great to meet some other airgun enthusiasts. I play in the shallow end of the pool of our hobby, but had some interest in my wares. Lord willing I look forward to next year being bigger and better. I had to laugh when Jeff sent out the list of vendors and seeing my name along side of Tom Gaylord, Crosman, Air Force and other well respected names in the world of airguns. Its like find the one one that does not belong. Do not miss the opportunity to visit this show in the future.
