Totally Homemade Cornbread

I'll eat "cakey" cornbread but strongly prefer it "gritty". I don't put anything on it except for butter and there's no upper limit when it comes to butter.

Ernie, in my family, cornbread is sometimes a meal all by itself. When that happens, it will be paired with butter and preserves or syrup. But other times it is the foundation and will have black-eyed peas, sausage, and/or ham with it. The leftover cornbread is frozen in a ZIPLOC for later. My Judy will get some ground beef and make Cornbread Dressing. When she does the Cornbread Dressing, I usually hurt myself. The nap afterwards will sooth the hurt.
It would be correct to say we LOVE Cornbread.

Speaking of bread... Betty Lou made a loaf of beer bread this morning to go with the spaghetti she has planned for later. That beer bread makes some awesome cheesy garlic butter bread.
