I feel for you. I truly do.
I was living in an LA suburb when the Rodney King riots happened. A buddy and I cut a fishing trip short to be home in time for the verdiict. We got together with the neighbors and secured our block before any problems could happen. I'll never forget the smell of burning suburbia.
I met a few of the Rooftop Koreans a few years later when working at the shooting range. They were good people.

It is a crazy situation.
The young man was a skateboarder and he was into photography. Probably took pictures of something, or maybe just a victim of circumstance as a skater.
The moment he was no longer treated as a human being is the moment those "people" stopped acting like civilized human beings. Let the punishment be doled out accordingly- in separate jails in General Population.

Funny that you should bring that up.
In the months before the LA riots, the local TV stations would use every excuse that they could find to play the video of the beating of Rodney King. (The wife would watch TV constantly and I'd see it as I passed through the living room on the way to whatever project I was working on at the time.) Thus the media got the riots that they wanted and the advertising sales that went with the coverage. Many lives were lost or ruined, but hey... Big bucks!
Times change, people never do.

I quit watching news broadcast years ago. I just can't stand to see the treachery of our news media. To be honest, I don't even know what event you are referring to. "A kid on a skateboard"? It sounds like the exact scenario that caused me to tune out.
