Title: 1.54”HD Digital Night Vision Rifle Scope with Crosshair, 10-300X high Magnifica
Post by: Back_Roads on December 24, 2022, 04:41:04 PM
Well todays Christmas activities have been put off to tomorrow, find that out after I got the driveway cleared of snow  ::)
So off to the tropical climate of the Amazon to explore. Recently bought a Thor LT 2-6 and an AGN 160 monocular , but still felt the need for another IR optic, as my old ATN is getting tired.
In my safari I came across this strange contraption, had to order it just to see what it is actually as add text is vague at best  ::) I will report back if and when I get this thing. Will also field any questions about the thermal optics I recently acquired.

Got a chance to look it over during lunch, took a bit but figured out the focus system and it does deliver high quality images, can pin point a pigeons head at 150 yards, I estimate the true zoom to be 30 x not 300, but it is clear out to 300 yards for sure ;)
Now to mount it on a gun and check for accuracy, so far I Like the function much better than mt early version ATN scope  :o

Looks a little bigger than the Sig Romeo 5 on my Airforce Escape UL...  ;D; but I must admit that with the Sig I can't see a pigeon head at 150 yards, in fact I couldn't even see the pigeon at 150 yards. Price seems relatively reasonable if usability is good.
Following!

Is there a way to mount it more securely? The single narrow pic rail attachment is sus. Otherwise I am thinking about ordering one based on your experience. I want to get into predator hunting, and it seems like a night scope of some kind is a necessity.

The mount is much meatier, than say a cheap scope ring mount the scope is light as a larger dot sight or small buck Rail scope, so unless you throw your guns around alot there should be no issues there, but a beefier mount could be added if one felt the need I guess.
Let me get it mounted on a gun and verify accuracy function before hitting that buy button ;)

Good to know it's more secure than it looks! On my walk through the woods this morning I found plenty of coyote tracks, so I'm very interested in your results.

How do you zero the scope? Do you just use the laser for the aim point?
I bought one of the generic 2K monoculars. Interestingly, when you start the digital zoom, it puts a crosshair on the screen.

There are 4 buttons on it some multi function, but pretty basic, right left up down, power button subs for right IIR. And seems to be able to move  pixle at a time, nice fine reticle also.
I will get it mounted on a gun tonight, and get some more pics and maybe see if I can get a short video.

OK mounted on my AT44 Tactical, first issue with mount was some side to side sway, there are 2 small screws that hold the pic mount to the optic. they are tapered heads and seemed to be secure, but found i could change my poi by over a foot in either direction, from the slop in the mount. I messed around an hour looking at options that wold be quick and easy, ended up using the OE mount but did it wrong like and it worked. There is a larger threaded hole in the mount and a tapered one that was supposed to be used, this locked things in firmly and just a few button clicks to get on target.

My over all take on this  is it is a great fair weather, or indoor night pesting scope. There are vent holes in the tombstone looking top control piece, and I feel it is its weak link to all around usefulness.
As far as viewing quality it is much nicer than my old ATN at 1/4 the price.
I plan on mounting it on a lower power pesting rig for the next round, field testing.

got a couple q's James:
1)is the objective really 40mm?
2)what is the minimum zoom you can use? e.g can you turn the "10x" off like a digital camera for use at closer distance?
3)can you save settings for adjustment of the reticle

edit: the one i ordered from CN is already on my city(5 days) they must have warehouses all over

I'm mostly curious about the quality of the night vision aspect of it.  Usable range with the built in IR illuminator and clarity of the image, and at what distances.  Thanks a bunch for the info so far.  So far, it seems to be a very viable option at a great price.  I've been looking for an inexpensive night vison option for a while.

I am thinking of short range garden defense, less than 20y. If it can see rabbits at that range I will likely buy one for my 1720T. I am overrun with bunnies. Not a real problem now, but will be once the garden is in.

1)is the objective really 40mm? - The Digital optics are 40mm, the front scope is 32mm
2)what is the minimum zoom you can use? e.g can you turn the "10x" off like a digital camera for use at closer distance? -
All magnification is with lenses no digital zoom 1x - 10 x is my guess may be more will have to compare at range with higher power scope.
3)can you save settings for adjustment of the reticle - Scope zero is saved, but no multi profiles such as ATN has.

Well I just took it off my AT44 and put it and a new 11mm - Weaver cantilever adapter on my Prod. I was not knowing what to expect for POI so I took the first shot at 7 yards, BINGO ! dead center, but 1 1/2" low, to be expected, up that close, backed up to 10 yards and still dead center but about an inch high, so not bad for all the variables that I introduced, mount seems worthy.
I did some surfing, it still seems to be the cheapest NV out there ATM, and I can not complain on its performance to this point. The laser is non essential, but I plan on mounting one to a few guns themselves as a 10 yard range indicator to quickly sight in when switching guns.

The cheap Bugbuster knockoff I was using on my Stormrider gave up today, so I might get the full scope since I'm short a scope at the moment. I'm sure something will be available next month when it's time to buy.

that's one i was eyeing too in china it's going for $80 or sth, a better clip-on option is megaorei m4 for $120-140
this one has zoom x4, amoled screen with full view, removable 18650 battery and diopter adjustment

the other one i got yesterday (nvp100b) does not have enough eye relief for my vector scope, no diopter adjustment either so I'm returning it

the nvp100c or 100d for $90 might be a good option as standalone scope with 8-24x zoom though the battery is only 900mah

Been doing some looking on AliExpress, these can be bought for under 100 if you do not mind the wait.

Meanwhile I tossed the NV scoped Prod in a soft case and took it to work did some HOSP pesting until they stopped coming back into the barn,. then proceeded to puncture several old spray cans at various distances 10 - 40 yards, the range of my Prod W/O holdovers. No shifts in POI from normal use.

Mmmm, I just can’t see adding to the length of the scope. Pretty sure there isn’t enough room to move it forward.

Keep the reports coming, and thank you for the info. I am determined to grow wax beans, but they are the bunnies favorites.

Subscribing.  I’ve been on the lookout for a cheap NV scope for a while.  This might be it.  I’d be mounting it on a pumper for garden protection. Adding a few bunnies to the larder would be a bonus.

I’ve been shopping since my last post. My head hurts.

The Rat Sniper Paul posted a video from his Oneleaf NV100. Looks pretty good for daytime footage. Seem to be in the $340 range, but it’s a clip on.

I have time to do more research as it will be a while before there will be any gardening.

I just ordered this one, I should be able to tell you about it 2 14 23  ;D It will need a custom mount as far as I can tell, as it is a telescope tripod version, but can be stand alone with its own digital reticle.

yes i did, my scope is a vector 3-12x40, the nvp100 was either advertised wrongly or the other Chinese scopes of this same size have a small ocular so it didn't work out, it also lacks in features other than recording/photo/reticle and it's kinda heavy for a clip on, the battery did last 100minutes with IR on which is a lot for only 850mah

i used the money to order a compact "3-9x40" that i think cvlife is a rebranding of, and the telescope James posted(although it doesn't have a screen but the magnification and motion detection is cool)

now I'm eyeing a henbaker NV for a couple hundred, it seems to cover all the basics

I am happy with the run time on the small batteries, I have a small rechargeable battery pack that I can Velcro to the gun and it last forever, and also recharges the onboard battery very fast 20 minutes ??? , and these power up fairly fast so shutting off and turning on is not a pain or time consuming, like my old ATN, my new ATN thermal LT is fairly fast also free of bells and whistles, for comparison speeds.

i saw "mini power banks" on Ali that you attach directly without cables and are very small could be handy

Now that I have seen a full side view of the mounting system (Reply # 21) I am very unimpressed about the rigidity of it.... Is it possible to place a scope ring at the back, between the rubber eyecup and the "tower"?.... Even a 3D printed one, of the correct height to hold it parallel to the barrel, would be a huge improvement!.... The way it is, even a gentle knock will cause the POA to change, and a harder smack will likely break something....  ::)

I was digging through my mount collection and did find an adjustable mount that was extra with an Immersive scope, that I will make an adapter for.

James I took your advice from another thread and will try old school first. I ordered a light, green/red with remote switch.

In the meantime I have achieved clarity. I will save and get a Wraith or some such at a later date. Likely buy a Prod and make it a dedicated Nacht Jagger.

One can spend more on the high end of illumination, and good light gathering illuminated recitals  than these cheap NV, and entry level name brand 850 IR NV  options.
On the Name brand IR list there is AGM, ATN. A Couple hundred more you can get a factory refurb ATN Thor LT. https://www.ebay.com/itm/125032960692 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/125032960692)

I recommend Thermal as the best overall if I had to choose. If not a scope at lest a monocular for spotting then flip on the lights and shoot :)

Those factory refrubs are a good deal compared to new prices. It also seems like thermal imaging tech is becoming a lot more affordable these days.

In a perfect world I would rather have a thermal spotting scope and an IR rifle scope. You can see so much more detail on IR, like branches, shadows, etc.

Thermal is actually pretty clear as to objects in most environments, extreme heat is its achilleas, I find the shadows from IR illuminator to be annoying at times.

Have you tried Thermal with snow/ice covered ground? I've used high end Thermal equipment in the military, but not as a rifle scope.

Wow, Thermal has come a long way. Back ten years ago our fancy Flir camera on our camp could be fooled by stones or hedges.

The flashlight setup arrived today. I think it will work nicely. Bunnies are not fast learners.

I also bought a Prod today that will likely become my night hunter.
I do intend on getting something like a Wraith, but I have a while to wait before I can spend more.

Hunter

I was are tempted to, they seem to have all the kinks that I encountered with the bargain basement brands worked out. Better mounting system for sure, I think I could get to work on my 150 dollar unit if my other mounts do not work out, will find out when screws I ordered get here.
I have seen some favorable reviews on PARD, and now experiencing the bottom of the barrel, I do believe their claims, and their top price ends wher big names begin so a nice in-between I would gather.

I saw that Wraith for $410 or so on Optics Planet.

With the addition of the Prod, I have my airgun needs met from 5 to 35 fpe. I need to focus on accessorizing the ones I have.

Unless of course, I see something shiny.

Tractor Supply sells a pretty sweet LED tactical light for $32. It comes with an offset picatinney/weaver mount, battery, charger, and a remote pressure switch.  75-100 yard illumination.  I cut a couple of round pieces out of green photographer's gel and slipped them under the lens retainer. I also have red gels if I want.

have read good reviews on this UFO spotter

the NV i ended up with a cy798, some reasons i choose it:
you can take the round ocular piece out and there's a 3.1 inch screen like this
 (https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/A48047bc896cc41c1920411c78a04740dY.jpg)

good mounting system for both 11/20mm rail

it's light(~300g) lighter than other clip on contraptions

21700 battery has easy 2x capacity(included)

decent zoom that can amplify your scope in clip-on mode(adapters included)

2x IR(850/940nm) + a side picatinny for extra illuminator or range finder

has lots of good feedback

In bright light I bet a shade of sorts would be nice over the screen, normal conditions I find these screens easily viewable, I have the cheap 300x NV sort of scout mounted on the Prod, as my astigmatism and prescription do not allow up close viewing of a plain screen with out diopter adjustment. I need to use the tricks to get around the comet thing with dot sights.

I meant for night viewing it might be really bright. I have one of those scope add on night vision camera rigs, but the screen is way too bright, plus it's way too cumbersome for practical use.

OK I got you there, some have put sun glass lenses in front of the screen to dim it, My scout setup is less of an issue as my eye is not right close to the screen, so if switching from looking through the scope, to the dark is not a blinding experience, even get that with adjustable ATN screen brightness, as ones eye is right up to the screen.

I just ordered a Pard NV700S.  I like the price of the ones mentioned on this thread, but I have pretty bad luck with Aliexpress and also with buying lower priced options and trying to make them work.  Got to play with the Pard at Shot Show last week and liked it at their booth.  I will report back when it arrives and I get some time with it.  I ordered it from Optics Planet.  When looking at it online, there was an section on the page that said "special offer available for this product. Call 1-888******* or live chat".  I clicked the live chat and was able to get a discount on the purchase. Final price was significant enough to purchase it and also, far below any other price available online.  Nobody local carries the product, so couldn't go local for it.

yeah better use the compass more instinctively to train your senses than relying only on it

tscope has a good clear image, fixed zoom, motion detection works but the app has to be open first icon enables it, it's a good idea to test before because too little unfocused things don't trigger as easy(i was testing on pole wires moving with the wind against a dark background)

all in all a nice gizmo for spotting things that are far away

Got my Pard NV007S delivered yesterday.  Here are my first impressions.  Box and packaging is kind of fancy and packed well. The unit itself is very sturdy, light, and does not feel cheap or janky in any way.  The mount that goes on the scope is very nice and the adaptor sleaves worked brilliantly to get a nice fit on my Hawke Airmax compact scope.  The buttons on the unit are very sturdy and not cheap feeling. Good positive feedback when using them. The eyepiece has a focus ring and it works fantastic to focus on your scope's reticle.  The focus on the side is to focus on the screen image.  Again works great and I was able to get a clear picture.  Regarding the picture.  I can say that so far I am very impressed with it, day or night!  Day you can do black and white or color.  Night mode is black and white and is clear.  I have played with it for a few hours on and off the scope and it has performed extremely well for this price point.  Honestly, I'm acting like a child with this thing bugging my wife dog, and 17yr old son sneaking up on them in the dark house. The ability to use it on it's own without a scope is a big bonus.  The zoom works great.  So far I have only zoomed to the 4x because I can't figure out how to get to the 4x-14x settings.  The instructions are not too great, but there are many youtube videos I can watch to learn.  I'm more of a tinker and learn guy anyway.  When I get more time with it on the rifle, I'll report back. Oh, the built in illuminator with spot or flood adjustments is very good so far out to 50yds.  I'll play more with it and get a feel for real distance and how the battery performs.  So for now after 2 hours of playing like a child, I give it an A rating

Have not been past 5m with it, otherwise I like it for the cost vs big heavy glass spotting optics. Tested as a spotting scope and can see great detail on the target impacts, will come in handy for long range and open sight shooting for sure.

Quick question as I'm still testing out my new Pard unit.  Any suggestions for an inexpensive IR illuminator?  The one built into the Pard is good, but I am looking for something that will run off of it's own battery and have more range.  Seems like all of us here are interested in budget builds!

This one will do better, and the next one even better, you may need a weaver 1 inch scope ring to clip it on the NV.

Thanks a bunch!!!!  I have a box of spare scope rings, so I will have no problem mounting any light to my scope or rifle. Also, the Pard has a small section of picitiny rail on the top of it making mounting a light super easy. Have a few pic rails on the rifle as well.  I'm going to check out both options above and see how much I want to spend.

Another option would be increase the battery, I use backup packs on all my NV. Either Velcro or make a weaver mount.

IR flash light.
I bought a 1508 UniqueFire T75 850nm IR Illuminator Flashligh. It throws the light hundreds of yards, but the field of view is very narrow,  and the lens is big and heavy. I then  bought a 1508 T38 940 nm. This is much better for airguns. The T38 lens is lighter, and has a wider field of view. 940 nanometers wavelength will not shine as far as 850nm, but it's good for airguns. Some nocturnal animals can see 850nm, but not 940nm.
The only problem is that this light dosen't have any visible indication that the light is on or off. The on/off switch is push button.  I remove the battery when I put it away. I need to get the IR camera to see if it's on or off. The new model 1605 has a dim red light on the back, and it has a variable dimming knob. The new model dosen't come with battery or charger, but it may have a mount and remote switch. ( I didn't see the new model when I purchased a few months back. )

It seems that uniquefire UF1605 or UF1801 have the new switch that has visible light indicator built in.

I bought the 1508. It does not have a visible light indicator. It can take 1 or 2 batteries (18650). I had to buy the remote switch separately.

Bob
I was digging through my mount collection and did find an adjustable mount that was extra with an Immersive scope, that I will make an adapter for.

I used a different version of these mounts, but just wanted to update that they are holding zero, after 2 weeks of in and out of the truck freezing cold temps, and whatever bumps it got along the way. This is not the nv scope but Same-ish mount.

THANK YOU for the valuable information as I am after a light that has a good field of view, not narrow and spot light oriented.  I'm finding I really like more of a flood pattern most of the time when playing with the night vision and the spot pattern only when I have a target I want to zoom in at a far distance.

customs where being funny and taxed me $10 but i got the henbaker NV today, am impressed with the packaging, manual and extras i was not expecting there's a carrying case and sling, another diopter lens for different myopia or sth

mount and screws are heavy duty

the 21700 battery is huge, i am glad they sent a charger for it

idk tho, zoom seems at best 3x + 3x and it's weighing 520g with battery and ocular piece(which can be taken off) still 650g total with mount

Post by: Baco on February 13, 2023, 06:09:24 PM
but this thing cool
optic mag is between 3-4x which is not behind higher end pard stuff
weight without the ocular cup is 444g, without battery 375g and i saw other NVs advertising the weight without battery so..not too bad, its lighter than my vector outback

the scope attachment fits perfectly unlike the other chinese clip on, NV clicks in place and has a release button, has adapters for smaller oculars...

mount is the double Weaver/Picatinny type with a lock(removable) for picatinny, tough stuff

the wifi app has a bit of delay but streaming is smooth and i couldn't test it further without a sd card

NV has picatinny rails on both sides removable

the laser is handy and adjustable
illuminators are fully adjustable both focus and position, up to setting 2 it uses 940nm from 3-5 it uses the stronger 850nm one

will test it more at night

i tried it at night but there's too much interference buildings trees wires post lamps, no clean line of sight

think i could see a pigeon's head at 120-130y with the thing attached to my scope and no digital zoom

I'll bet that Henbaker would work well on a AirForce platform. It let's you view high up with the objective lens low.
Do you know the objective center height above the barrel center?

you betcha
ctc it's about 56.5mm or 2.21" on my pr900

it is very tall in scope standards, the screen is 3.1" and viewing angle is good probably ips, using both eyes is comfortable

it came with metal shims like this i think it's to compensate the angle  at larger distances> https://www.ebay.com/itm/353556924879 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/353556924879)

honestly i was expecting more zoom but for airgun ranges i think this will do

Here is my final install on my P-rod, I ended up turning the device 1/4 turn and using other mounting holes, aligned the scope to be on zero, then glued down mounting points.
Not sure what other cheap options are out there now, but happy with the end setup I came up with.

James, has that unit been effective for you? My flashlight, green, red or clear scares the bunnies. So far only one bean plant eaten, but no kills.

Do you have thread on your Prod build? I may be interested in adding a bottle to one of mine. I’m adding a longer tube to on of them.

not bad James, that takes care of the rigidity + saving zero issue and looks neat with the extra illuminator as a bonus

when i looked last there were 2-3 chinese listings with similar specs I'm thinking of pulling the trigger as customs just seized another scope of mine

that is if i can find a way to mount it like you did

Thanks for the update 👍

Yes works much better than a colored lamp, Mostly use it day time as by the time it is dark I am sleeping LOL, but also handy in dark bars barns and the like.
As far as the build sorry no mostly tidbits I gathered from other builds on GTA, just decided to toss one together one weekend. The Bottle Notos seems to be the better option these days ;)

You may be right about the objective size difference. Yes the image processing on the one I got is much faster than the old ATN I once had. Won't loose a small target when the video glitches like some older N/V scopes did.
