Title: Come on Alaska!
Post by: AlaskaAirgunner on February 10, 2020, 10:27:21 PM
Airguns are growing by leaps and bounds and offer a great way to practice, hunt small game and varmints, or just plink quietly in your backyard. We really need to get it going in Alaska!

The biggest problem is shipping.. crosman won’t ship pcps to us.. most of the people down in the lower 48 won’t even ship to us.  Kenai stores don’t carry any pcps. Anchorage only has .25 marauder or a game urban..

I got a marauder shipped to me free from Amazon up here a few years back, and just picked up the FX Impact. Quite a few other companies ship airguns to Alaska. I understand your frustration though, I deal with it constantly and have to go out of my way to find shipping options. There is a new dealer opening up in the valley that will carry Air Force Airguns, Higher end Gamo's and likely adding more soon.

Try ATI, they might ship the Nova up there to y'all, it's a better gun than the MRod and cheaper...

Kasilof airgunner here. I just bought an airgun off of eBay. I told the seller I would pay extra for UPS shipping.  his reply he does not ship UPS or FedEx lo and behold he ships it out today USPS. Now I'm a little concerned if I won't get busted by the USPS or something like that.. or will the gun make it with no problems I hope so . I wish we had a quality airguns store in south-central Alaska ordering online can be Troublesome any thoughts

Fairbanks here.  Shipping is certainly a challenge, particularly with stores that have tie-ins with specific shippers.  Companies with free shipping are always ground shipping, which is fine in the Lower 48 but doesn't work to Alaska [or Hawaii].  Sometimes, but rarely, some nice person in shipping will send products by USPS flat rate boxes, but even then those boxes won't fit a rifle.  That said, almost everything can eventually be acquired if you are willing to wait and to pay a premium.

With the onset of winter I am starting to shoot 10M pistol and rifle inside.  The LP10 will be used for postal matches on Target Talk.  The rifles are just for fun [FWB 300S, Beeman 400, and FWB 602].  Probably won't be shooting PCP rifles for awhile.

Regards.

Mike

Now based in Southeast Alaska (Haines) and set up for PCP rifles.   Anyone in Southeast?

Hi.
I am NukallVak from Chevak. Ive been posting here in GTA for over a year and have been a reader for over 2 years now.
Ive ordered many AGs over the last couple years. There are some hurdles to get past such as very high shipping cost, long shipping times, alot of items are unable to be shipped to Alaska < CO2, Air bottles, some parts or item dealers offer No Shipping options to Alaska.
Everything takes its time to get to Alaska. At nearly every store in alot of the towns except ANC i have been to there are very limited inventory on Airguns and Pellets. Usually the pellets a cr osman or dais y, never see HN or RWS any where. Good pellets need to be ordered. The rural Stores only ever have Multipumps or breakbarrels, goodluck ever finding a PCP except in ANC XD.   Soo on soo forth.

I bought one cylinder from a dive shop in Anchorage and one off of eBay. Shipping the cylinder wasn’t an issue at all.
Local inventory of PCP guns is non existent! Find a shop that will ship USPS and save a bunch of money.

Rogerlj,
Welcome to GTA. A half a year ago i had thoughts to put together a 2240x18" with a 9cu in bottle. I was unable to find any place that would ship a 9cu in bottle so i threw that idea away.
I have 2 of PCP Airguns, a Number of multipump and breakbarrel Airguns. I am currently waiting for a Gamo Swarm Magnum Pro Gen3i .22, and a Crosman Tyro .177 to be shipped to me. Launching Lead is Fun, soo Fun.
 Excellent Work StayAlert, Rogerlj

USPS is not an issue.  I use to ship airguns all over either selling or sending them to get tuned.  My Mrod .25 came via USPS last year from a friend.  I can only get USPS parcels as we live remote and UPS and fedEx will not drop at my PO Box.

Not new to GTA, however I have only been in Alaska for 2.5 years now.  We are remote north of Talkeetna a bit.  Currently have a Mrod.25, Pile Driver .457, Crossman 2240 that has a Green mountain barrel, metal breech and cheap butt stock to make a carbine. Few other odds and ends Co2 pistols. I do have a compressor for filling as well. Hope you all are doing well.

Any Anchorage area airgunners? I'll be up here for the next year or two for work; I've only got a Beeman .177 PCP up here at the moment but might get some more airguns if there's places to shoot or things to shoot at. I know AK now allows caribou and deer hunting with big bores but going after either one of those seems like an expensive proposition.
