Hey Guys I also wanted to let you know I changed the scope on the gun. I recently was hunting with the rifle and it was an early morning hunt. I had 6 or 7 deer come out at about 100 yards and when I tried to center the crosshairs on one of them I found I could not see the crosshairs AT ALL!!! This was not good...to say the least. So I passed up taking any kind of a shot since I will not shoot unless I have a clear, well placed shot on any animal. I called Cabela's and decided to return the scope for a refund. It was a good scope. Clear and bright but the crosshairs are way to fine for low light conditions.
So I contacted Fred at USA OPTICS out of Alabama and asked him to send me a scope, the same model scope that I use on my new .243 centerfire rifle. This scope is a Sightmark 3-9 x 42 mm Triple Duty Rifelscope.
It is not a mil-dot scope. It has a Circle Dot Duplex recticle that lights up either red or green. I love this recticle on the .243 so I thought why not try it on this rifle. It works great.
I have the rifle dialed in at 50 yards and I just hold over at 100 yards. I may try a mil dot scope in the future. I will decide on that later.

Rich, I was wondering if you have done any accuracy testing at the 3500 fill? I noticed that you did some chrony testing at this pressure. I don't have a high pressure tank yet but do have a 3500 psi scuba tank and hope my new .457 Extreme Hunter will drive tacks at that pressure. So far I don't get very good groups at the lower fill pressure. I know that Brent has designed these guns for 4200 but seems as though they should also be accurate at 3500 as well.
thanks

Hey Ray...
I have done some yes and I was using the 250 grain HP's at the 3500 psi. At 50 yards the first two shots are just about touching each other, with the third shot dropping out a bit.
At 100 yards the grouping opens up a bit to about 1-1/2" but thats not bad for that distance. Plus I am still geeting used to the rifle and still playing a bit with the trigger.
I may even try to lighten it up more. Right now it is realy cold here in Georgia so I have not been shooting much. I am also waiting for some additional bullets from Bob since I have run out of the 250's and the 280 HP's.
They should be here tomorrow. Hope this helps.
Also If I were you...I would go with a Nitrogen tank set up. I was able to rent a 6000 psi tank that has about a 300 cu ft. capacity for $100.00 for the whole year. It cost's $75 to have it refilled. The fill guage and whip assembly from Joe Brancato at
Airtanksforsale.com
is about $190.00 shipped and that is all you need to run the gun at either 3500 or 4200 psi. SO for about $365.00 you would have the high pressure source of air you need. Plus you should get ALOT of fills off of that tank. YOu just have to be careful when you are filling the gun. Opening the valve very slowly so as not to over fill the gun is very important. Its not hard ...you just need to be careful when dealing with these kind of fill pressures.
I fill my other pcp guns from it now too. And they are 3000 psi max fill. Just take your time when filling the guns.
Bob's hollowpoints (
www.mrhollowpoint.com
) are the best and most accurate bullets I have used. Give him a call for any of your ammo needs.
Thanks,
Rich

Eagleone...what size barrel do you have on your Extreme?I have been talking to brent the past few Days and I think I am going to buy one...just trying to figure out a few specs I want with it.I like the "34-"36 inch barrel but still want to keep it comfortable, thinking "32 maybe.

Jeremy, I have a 30" in the Extreme and it's plenty long enough especially if you are going to carry it any distance. FPS and FPE are not an issue with this gun. They are simply powerful not matter how long your barrel.

Yea Brent had told me that most of what he was making is "27 inch barrels that the longer barrels are not getting much more fps...maybe 10-20 fps diff.what type of bullets are you using and what velocity's ?I take it that you would recommend this gun?I'm pretty set on getting one just curious as to what to expect out of it.

Yea Ive spoke with brent a few times and he is really cool...not like other gun makers where they say "these are your option",Its been more of"what do you want your air rifle to be"?Im pretty set on getting one.one other question is "have you shot any light ammo?180 gr to 215 gr.?I plan on buying a 250gr-340gr. mold but right now I have a lot of .457 in the 150gr to 220 gr range for my 909s...figured if I took it turkey hunting a heavy round would be over kill.150-220 gr. prob. still is in this gun just curious.?

Jeremy, here's some stuff I shot today with lighter weight bullets
166 gr Hunter Supply
1. 958 fps 3500psi fill 338 fpe
2. 894 fps 2700psi
3. 843 fps 2200 psi
122 gr Mr Hollowpoint
1. 998 fps 3500 psi fill
2. 931 fps 2700 psi
3. 874 fps 2200 psi
Still lots of fpe to do some damage. I have not shot this gun enough to say that the barrel is broken in. I am thinking that guys report that you need to shoot a several hundred rounds through the barrel to see a change in velocity.
Blessings, Ray

when I spoke to Brent he said I would get right at 600 fpe out of the gun with a "27 inch barrel...have you seen even close to that in yours with heavy rounds? Are you using the light hammer spring?Just wondering cause when I spoke to him I told him the #1 purpose of this gun was for deer hunting? You can take one easy with the fpe your getting,I have a tuned sam yang 909 thats getting 300fpe and took 2 this year with no prob.I was just looking for some thing that would put a real whooping on um

Just for kicks I just shot a 350 gr bullet through the EXtreme but only had 3800 psi left in the tank and had the light spring in the gun. It still shot 795 fps which calculates to be 491 fpe. There's little doubt that you can hit the 600's in fpe with a heavier bullet with 4200+ psi fill. Again saying that this gun has the horsepower you are looking for

Does the gun have much recoil? Meaning enough that could effect accuracy if not held correctly?

Don't have enough experience yet to determine if the hold is critical. Rich may be able to offer his experience. I do know that she has some decent recoil especially when filled to 4200 psi

Did a lot of searching and ended up buying this whole rig for $565 delivered. Holds 4350psi and 106cu ft. You can buy the gage and 5 foot hose assembly separately for $120 if you don't need a tank. It is a DIN connection. Tank is about 2 times the weight of a carbon fiber but stands vertically and is rugged. Basically an aluminum scuba tank with an outer wrap. I did put a $8 mesh boot over the tank as a bad ding in the outer wrap is not a good thing. I suspect that a bad ding in a carbon fiber tank is not a good thing either. The valve is not the controlled fill type as often advertised but it's not really a problem to throttle the fill rate.

Wow,never even seen that sight before.Thats a pretty good deal.PA wants $699 for the 80 cf airhog and this is bigger.I think Im gonna invest in a shoebox too cause a lot of the local shops cant fill these sort of tanks. The shop up the road says they can take any tank to 4500psibut people have said it usually ends up around 4100-4250 with smaller tanks.Thank you
