Dinh, next time you eat fried rice add some Mayo when you fix a plate. It's a great addition. I fell in love with fried rice from a place called Shorty's in Rota Spain back in 89. They had a walk around cooler section like butchers use to pick your ingredients, the staff would follow you and just load up what you wanted then straight to the wok. That's when I discovered the creamy texture it gives fried rice. All of the tables had a squirt bottle of Mayo and after watching the locals I had to try it and since then it's like ketchup to fries next to soy and hot sauce on fried rice of course.

Dihn....calling Dinh....question for Dinh.....oh Diii-nnnhhhhh...
Dang, even rice bothers you? Is it diverticulitis? I have family members with that and they eat rice. Just asking, maybe they have problems because they still eat rice.
Dihn....calling Dinh....question for Dinh.....oh Diii-nnnhhhhh...One of the women I work with is Vietnamese, and some of the employees brought food for a group birthday celebration. This woman brought a Thai dish that she referred to as Larb- apparently aka pork salad. I'd never had it before and I loved it!I found a recipe online that sounds like it's very similar, except that she used the small rice noodles (cooked) rather than rice itself. If you're familiar with this dish (or anyone else here is), I'd love to know if this is a pretty close recipe, as far as authenticity goes. Thai Ground Pork Salad (Larb Mu)1.1 pound ground pork.2.1 tablespoon peanut or vegetable oil.3.3 tablespoons uncooked jasmine, long-grain, or sticky rice, (or 3 tablespoons store-bought toasted rice powder)4.1 tablespoon fish sauce.5.1 to 2 teaspoons chili sauce.6.1 teaspoon sugar.7.Juice from 1 small lime.8.1 shallot, thinly sliced.I bought the ingredients to make it today, but haven't had the time to do it yet.
Thanks Dinh! I thought it sounded like it should be pretty close. Looking forward to trying it!
Combining the meat with shredded lettuce, bean sprouts, fresh herbs basil and cilantro, and chili fish sauce(nuoc mam), would make this a very refreshing, classic Southeast Asian dish.
I just smashed this plate lunch from a local grocery store/meat market. Spinach and garlic stuffed brisket over rice, smothered potatoes and veggies.
