After a break-in period and finding the right pellet, I think you could hit dimes all day long at 20-30 yds. You'll likely own this rifle forever, the cost for such a quality and fun gun is small over time. After I decided to only shoot PCPs/COČ, my local friend (who owns and shots over 25 firearms) had tried out the HW30S and asked me "Marc, that was a really nice and fun rifle! Why didn't you keep it?"I may be one of the very few crazy enough to return one.
Keep the Raven for a bit, drop the target size. Maybe paint balls on golf tees, (or golf balls) kids should get a kick out of that. Move them in if you have too. That will make it challenging, and give her time to grow a bit. Then get her something better after she grows a little more.
I saw Marvin's Carbine on GunBroker and his websight. I assumed the shorter barrel would mean higher cocking force. Just a note...The whole point of this topic was to take her to the next level of accuracy not just a new gun. She is able to hit a can at 35 yards now with the Raven. The little Dickens is turning into a good shooter and I want a way to encourage her and get her a gun that will hit a dime at 20-30 yards.Make sense? The hw24C might be the ticket IF she can cock it.

Yes, Yes... I know.QuoteWarning: this topic has not been posted in for at least 120 days.Unless you're sure you want to reply, please consider starting a new topic.Well, the time has come. I made a pact with her a while back when she brought home her Mid-Term progress report that if she kept up the good grades I'd get her that new gun. Tonight she handed me her report card, grinning and rocking back on her heels.... Guess what.STRAIGHT A's ! My little Dead-Eye Lou pulled it off! After I congratulated her on a job well done, She asked if that "Wood Dragon Rifle" was still available. So it looks like I will be callin Mike for an XS12.
