853 FrankenDaisy
Ronfiveo:
I just assembled a new / old 853 Rifle.
A while back I broke the "Valve Body Barrel Assembly" when it got knocked off the table during a
reassembly.
The very good people at CMP, especially Tommy Whitten, sent me a replacement which turned out to
be pretty much the whole rifle... minus the stock and various screws and barrel band etc.....
In the mean time I was able to JB Weld the barrel back in position to the valve body and so far
it appears to be holding, aluminum can be tricky.
I just got through this morning assembling the rifle except for slipping it into the new stock.
I'm going to refinish it like I did with 853 #1.
When the stock is finished I'll slip this into it and hopefully have another good accurate shooter.

It's rough having something go wrong with your best shooter Ron, I hope all goes well!

Thanks, Steve.
I got a replacement from CMP and it's shooting just like it did.
Those guys are awesome. Especially Tommy Whitten.
All is good.

Matchstickshooter:
Ron,
have you got the latest project 853 together yet?

Yes, I do.
It shoots very well, in fact above my expectations.
The trigger, after the mod, is at 1.25 pounds pull.
The FPS is averaging 531.02 FPS.
Right now I'm in the process in learning it's personality, but so far it is
as accurate as #1 is.
I'm very pleased with it. :)
