Wish I lived closer!BZ
So far, it looks like I'll be able to make it. I don't have a lot of targets, but what I do have will be brought and I am taking hillbilly's advice and saving bottles. I'm really stoked about this. If anybody has any extra .45 pellets laying around, I wouldn't be adverse to a little wheeling and dealing.....
OletomcatThe ones i got are made by air venturi and they mic out at approx. Length- .484 and Diameter- .454 with an average weight of 159grs. They are labeled to weigh 166gr, but they missed it. These are the only ones I have to play with right now. I did manage to put 12rds downrange to get it on paper at 42yds, but haven't done much else with it to see what it prefers. It's an hour to the shooting range and then I have to share with the powder burners who seem to get a little miffed that I'm there. The magazine will only accept pellets less than .600 in length and the weight limit is around 200gr.I'm hoping you guys can help me figure out a good setup for this monster.. If you have sometthing you want to try, I'm up for it.
Hey Al,In that box of goodies I sent are some water caps with Bigger Blast 3-liter valves installed in them. I punched the holes to exactly 7/32" because that's the size treefork to me to make but I did have problems with the inflation needle pushing the valve out of the cap. Treefork has posted a How To video and now I can see the difference. The punch he used is a 7/32" but the hole you get is undersized in soft material. Off I go to Walmart tomorrow for more water bottles and I'll send you some replacement caps. It's good that you gave us a lengthy notice on this fun shoot! And by the way I usually have these valves listed on ebay as: Big Blast Target Inflator - BIGGER Blast for 3-liter bottlesbut I've run out and it will be a week or so before more come in.Check out the video and you'll know everything about using these cheap little valves in water bottle caps.Bigger Blast Target Inflators-How to : Have a BLAST!!Charlie
OOPS! Just been talking to treefork and he says the punch he used is 5/32 not 7/32. Sorry my hearing is real bad and youtube's closed captioning is too.
And now the rest of the story... Treefork's video doesn't show him installing a valve in that tiny little hole, so how does he do it?'Get it started and pull it thru with my teeth'If you are like me you'll use needle nose pliers to make sure your teeth don't end up on the workbench!
Looking good...
Quote from: OleTomCat on September 05, 2014, 08:41:49 PMLooking good...Thanks Al!I now realize that I will not be able to use the nuts if I want Tim to be able to replace the spoons easily.I will use dense rubber spacers/tubing and the washers instead. Will just have to slide the tunes and old spoons off when wanting to replace them. The only nuts will be the two wing-nuts that hold the all-thread to the base or the stand/s.So, will have to finish tomorrow. Thanks again,Al.p.s. It will have a total of 9 spoons on it!
