Missed you guys that couldn't make it Saturday. My twin, Don, came down with me. I don't think I have seen him have more fun in years! We all had a blast. I don't think I could keep him away next month if I tried. I finally got the trigger adjusted on my Ram XT. It's still a little heavy, but it is nice and crisp, and a real pleasure to shoot. I guess I am a happy camper now. I picked up my Hatsan Striker Vortex in .25. I'm good till spring, but then I'll be looking to get a Crosman 1322 or 2240. I just may break down and buy it from the Custom Shop, rather than modding it myself. Cheers guys. I'll look to see you the 12th

I finally broke down and purchased a true German FT gun last night. I bought a Walther LGU in .177 from AGD and applied the Sb10off code for a total cost of $386. So I will be selling my XS46U .177 full tuned when I get back from Vacation.  $250 with the 4-1644 Nikko Stirling Nighteater scope or $175 for the gun only.

Hi Folks,

I am Dave's twin.  I have to say I haven't had more fun than the fun shoot in a long time. (but , then I don't have much fun at all..).

I have been a "powder burner" since my Boy Scout and JROTC days. I hadn't thought much about Air guns and, to be honest, my reason for deciding to  go down to AL's was to please Dave.  I knew I wouldn't have a bad time, but I really didn't expect to have a good time. I didn't want to be there gunless, so I bought (one of) Grimeszee's B4-1 Side Cock from that Dave recommended.  We shot it here a several times, and I found I liked it.  I really like the B4-1.  I believe it has been expertly tuned and Grimeszee worked very hard on the stock.  The natural color of the wood shows through,  the satin smooth finish almost glows and it shoots a nice group.  Dave and I really had a good time shooting in our back yard.  David and I had some of the first "quality time" we have had in a while, and I was *really* starting to enjoy Air gunning.

By the time we got to Cross, I was ready to buy a 2nd gun.  I was looking for a little more power and LeftEyeShot hooked me up with a really good deal on a Hatsan 125 Vortex.  He told me up front that there might be some issues with it and he had not gone over it, but it shot.  Even as I got it, it shot pretty well; fairly consistent speed of about 670fps.  The trigger, well the Quattro trigger worked. I have since done some work on it and I am quite happy with it.  I may post on my experiences with it later.

I had read about PCPs and after I saw and shot OleTomCat's BT65, I knew I wanted one. So when when we got back home I started scouring the web for PCP rifles.  The first thing I noticed is they are not very inexpensive (understatement, that is).  I also wanted a multi-shot capability.  The least expensive multi-shot PCP I could find was the Benjamin Marauder, uncomfortably over $400.

I began a quest to capture the multi-shot experience with HPA. so I started looking for multi-shot CO2s that I could convert. There are actually quite a few guns that might serve for a project like this.  I was making good progress.  Finding guns, finding paint ball tanks, finding CO2 adapters, but as you may know, a project like this starts to come in on the heavy side of $300.  I kept looking for ways to bring the cost down.  I was about to decide I would have to settle for a Maximus or a Disco, single shot only...

Then i came across a YouTube video for the CR-600 (the C stands for CO2) available in the UK,  From the price in pounds, I knew that if I could find it here it should be reasonably priced.  I hit the forums looking for info, where I came across MRODAir.  I had read some good things about Mike's products, mostly the really high end stuff.  I don't know if I will ever be able to spring $1500 for a Heubin, but what a sweet gun.  I found the CR600 branded as the Plinkster, and it is indeed reasonably priced at an "introductory price" of $150.  I had marked this down for further research.

I saw that Mike had listed several PCPs as New Adds to his line.  I saw the Varmint, which is Mike's branding for the SPA PW900. It had everything I was looking for.  From viewing the pics I would place it some where in the range of the Disco, but with multi-shot.  It looked a lot like the Plinkster ( I later found out that it is a Plinkster with a few mods for PCP), but I figured it must be at least 2-3 times the price. then I found the price page and  that was when I had my "Eureka Moment." The gun carries the introductory price of $200!!! I went absolutely MANIC.  Almost before I knew it,  I had ordered 1 along with 2 extra mags,  and a CP1-M Co2 pistol which shares the breech and magazine with the Plinster/Varmint, and 2 MORE mags.  The CP1-M seems to be the same gun as the AirForceOne Trophy CO2 and it's the perfect complement to the Varmint and was priced at only $100. Oh yeah, the 3K# hand pump so I can charge the thing; I bought that too.

With any luck, I will get these in time to go over them with a fine tooth comb and have done my best effort to tune in time for the December fun shoot.  I will do a photo shoot of the un-boxing, tear-down, any tweaks I make, and the re-assembly and probably write a full review to post in the proper place here on GTA.

I am already thinking about a large caliber PCP, and there's the regulator for the Varmint.....

So OleTomCat, LeftEyeShot, the upshot of all this is that you have created a monster!.  I am lucky that I have such an understanding wife AND practically a prescription from  my Dr. to find a hobby to relieve some of my stress and interact with other people.  I am not it trouble yet, but I am very close.....

Still, there's the regulator... and maybe a bigger air reservoir.....

;) ;D Welcome to the addiction. Ole Tomcat was one of my first enablers and I have promised myself that next spring I am going to take an extended weekend drive down there to meet in person some of the crazies from South Carolina. I know that the South Jersey crew is also a great bunch of shooting buddies and awesome enablers as well. Enjoy your new passion and feel free to blame your brother any time you need a scapegoat I know that's what I do. Be well and have a Happy and safe Thanksgiving to all you SC crazies ;D ;D ;D

I TOLD you my  brother had the fever! He gave a great story about his new guns.... but WAIT, there's more! He couldn't bear to have all the fun by himself,  so he called me up to show off the specs on his new purchases. When I agreed they looked pretty sweet, he said "Merry Christmas! I ordered a second one... for you!" I fell in love with Al's 2240, and had already gone to the CustomShop and speced one out to my liking. The price tag was near $150. I had a target date sometime in April to order it. When I saw the CP-1M, I watched a few of  YouTube  reviews (of which there are many) on it and decided that for $99, I could be quite happy with it. Moreover, I had $99 burning a hole in  my pocket, so I had him add one to his order for me. For the time being, we'll share the pump. I'll get one in the Spring. So, my friends, when you see us on the 10th, you will find the two of us loaded for bear.... well, bunnies and garden bandits, anyway  ;)

Sounds like there's gonna be all kinds of new goodies to look at next month... 8)  Can't wait to see 'em. I think you guys will like the CP-1Ms. I've got a couple of pages concerning them I'll make copies of for you guys. They have fewer moving parts than the 2240 and are real easy to work on.
See ya'll then.

Roger on the new goodies. According to the videos I have seen, when you find the right pellet, they are dead accurate, too. I am almost almost afraid for Don to meet you; it could be hazardous to his health. He fired Al's BT65, and had to have a PCP. I wonder what will happen when he fires your Texan.....
