It had food in it prior to being shot with my air gun so yes, that probably makes it tin.The kind that a magnet would stick to.

I always use synthetic grease on all my AG's especially my springers.Hi Don.I'm shooting H&N Barracuda Match 10.65gr through it at the moment, and they seem to be working well.I'm still shooting it with open sights and actually quite enjoying it that way, it's been a long time since I shot without a scope and it's a welcome change. I haven't tried grouping it because I'm not going to do it justice with open sights, but I'm managing to hit what I'm aiming at most of the time. For now, that's good enough for me.I haven't put it through the chronograph lately, but I feel like it's shooting pretty hard and has no difficulty in penetrating through both sides of a steel can (steel, not aluminium). I also agree that it will get faster as the piston seal beds in. Out of interest, what grease do you use on the piston seal of your 460?I've definitely learned a lot through this exercise. I feel I got a bit wound up about what the chronograph was telling me, and lost sight of the enjoyment of shooting for a while there. Once I put the chrono away and just started shooting, I began enjoying the rifle much more. The major learning for me, it's not all about the numbers LOL.Let me know what grease you use if you don't mind sharing. All the best.

The ARH moly is the best bang for the buck I know of. He sells the grease for the spring as well if you want.
Many thanks for the additional info Rion.In amongst the lubes I purchased from ARH, I also ordered some of the piston "buttons" which I am keen to try. There is an excellent YT video of a D460 tune which also shows the application of the buttons. I also ordered a mainspring from ARH as the OEM spring is not perfectly straight. On a slightly different topic, I have a Vortex PG4 kit for the D460 which I installed but I could not get the rifle to cock. I have had great success with Vortek kits prior to this. Any thoughts on why the gun wouldn't cock? Normally I would have thought maybe the spring was too long but surely that's not the case with a Vortek kit that is specifically made for this model rifle? Perhaps there is a trigger adjustment I need to make before the sear will latch? I only thought about trigger adjustment after I removed the kit, so I have not tried it. Currently the gun is in OEM form with only a very light smear of TbT moly paste around the edge of the OEM piston seal, otherwise it's completely stock. I have not adjusted the trigger in any way, it's as it was out of the box. Thanks very much for the guidance.
