Sharp Ace Hunter problem

Hello, I have a 22cal Sharp Ace Hunter that I bought new in the mid 90s. I baby it and have barely put a tin thru this gun in all this time. Its stored with one pump . So today I went to shoot it and I noticed if I very gently and slowly squeeze the trigger I can hear the compressed air escape out the barrel and thereby when it goes off theres barely any report or power.-BEFORE the trigger clicks off . IF I just depress the trigger hard and faster though it will dump the full charge. These are those so called Blow off valves unlike the sheridans that have a striker or hammer block that knocks open the valve. So my Sharp Ace doesnt have to be cocked. Just pump it and load a pellet and shoot. I tried oiling up everything but that didnt work. Also tried readjusting the trigger screw but that didnt do anything eiither. Any ideas? IF I pump it up and leave the gun stored it holds the charge. Its just when I slowly depress the trigger which is the way it should be shot that it somehow leaks it all out.I can maintain the pull emptying it without the trigger clicking off too.

I have the Webley version in .177, had one in .22 also, but let a member talk me out of it, but here is a detail on the gun.

Not familiar with that rifle, but sounds like positive engagement of the sear, as you pull the trigger, the hammer gets retracted slightly, reducing pressure of the hammer against the exhaust valve, allowing air to get past the exhaust valve. Maybe a weak hammer spring? Debris on the valve seat? Just speculating.
But, after almost 30 years, stuff degrades and deteriorates and needs to be replaced. I don't know where you can get a seal kit for it, perhaps from the UK (Chambers, Knibbs, etc). But look around for Webley Rebel parts as it is essentially the same gun, is it not?

I don't know anything about the gun, but what ever holds the poppet in place probably has a spring that resets it. The spring could be gummed up and not resetting the poppet all the way. HTH
