Afterwards, I left the rifle sit for couple of hours with the pump open, hoping to allow any residual alcohol to dry up. Unfortunately, I later found that the pump was once again limp and did not offer any compression/resistance.
All,On a related note, do you have any recommendations to a cheaper Pellgunoil alternative? I see on several threads some folks have had success with Walmart Super Tech Non-Detergent SAE 30W Lubricating Oil which is under $5 a quart. That should last a lifetime, if it is suitable.
All,Thanks for the replies. I had applied some Pellgunoil after airing-out the pump mechanism but maybe not enough of it. The original "2-3 drops here" sticker is still there on the pump and has served as a reminder over the years not to get carried away with lubing. I will try applying a bit more oil again to see if that helps. On a related note, do you have any recommendations to a cheaper Pellgunoil alternative? I just completed a reseal of mine. Tried the alcohol flush with results similar you yours. Watched the YouTube videos of assembly/ disassembly (repeatedly) and bought a seal/cup/valve kit on the bay for $10-12 I think. Took me a couple hours of going slow, replaying and freezing the video, and playing with some fiddly parts during reassembly, but it now works. That first shot through it in 35+ years brought a big smile. Give it a try- very satisfying.
FYI.......parts from Crosman will always save you $$$$$$$
