I also recommend a degrease, clean/polish and re-lube with Krytox GPL-205. Chrono before/after may help for your reference later. Please take lots of pictures.Good luck!
Yeah the flared skirt should help make a tighter fit, but bottoms should make it better.I’d rather have a 95 barrel w/threads.IMO the HW98 is too heavy.

Want to trade for a full length 20 caliber 80 barrel?
I had to ask lol! What's the OD on that spring and how much preload will it have?I'll be curious what you wind up with power and manners. Also not sure if I missed it but what energy were you getting from the 177 barrel?
Kirk,With the new bell shaped piston are buttons even necessary or needed?I love those fat 98 barrels. Wish one would fit my HW 50... -Y
On another note the last four new Weihrauchs I got to tune had major quality issues. Three of them had compression tube scores after 20 test shots from swarf. One had a bent barrel and a tapered bore. One had a bead of slag in the front corner of the compression tube that chewed up the seal. One had a bead of slag between the stock hanger bracket that chewed up the plastic cocking arm insert badly. All of them had damaged piston seals which isn't a big deal or new. What is new and bothers me is all of them had full length visible tubing seams in the compression tube. These QC issues makes me nervous about ordering a new rifle.

Given the above (and scores from others) it's tremendous that people still swoon over Weihrauchs and keep buying them left and right. I was extremely let down by my 2019 Weihrauch purchase, and am not seriously looking at any HW that's not at least 10, preferably 30 years old.
