Dual Tank Spacer Wedge
«

I am working on a Dual Tank Benchrest rifle build, in the following thread....
https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=202750.0
The tanks and plenum are mounted to a "Y" shaped aluminum tank block at the front, but at the back I need a triangular spacer to fit between them, to hold them in position when I put a big hose clamp around them to make them rigid and prevent them from moving and stressing the threads, if bumped or dropped.... My son now has a 3D printer, and showed me how to use Tinkercad, so I designed this....
It's shown upside down, the plenum is on the top, but you get the idea.... Like a much larger version of this, with the wedge in between at the back....
What files do I need to send him, an .stl or what?....

I got three tank spacer wedges for my Dual Tank Benchrest guns today from my son.... He used his 3D printer....
They are 100% infill, so solid as a rock, easily capable of taking the compression from a hose clamp, which is what will hold the tanks rigid at the back.... This was a perfect solution, I'm sold on 3D printing for certain jobs such as this....

I see your Son did a Triple wall. Good choice for that part.

It's 100% infill anyways.... Would the wall make any difference?.... He's pretty new at this, I don't know what choices his slicer program or printer software offer.... Maybe that is the default if you go for 100% fill?....

3 outer walls help to keep a part with in specs as designed.
A single wall, with a full infill can swell a part as the heat transfers.
For that part you have? You could do a few hollow areas to save filament and print time.
It would be just as strong and do the job just fine.
Your only applying a set amount of side force.
I'd do 3 hollow areas myself with 3 walls.

He's probably using Cura slicing program, you can do a lot of settings in Cura, but I like to use Tinkercad 3D program to make voids and open areas in the Item so I know where they are and to help conserve filament and help speed up the printing, otherwise the slicing program will choose the density depending on the fill setting you have chosen.

Cool! Have him and yourself switch to Fusion360 it’s light years better than tinkercad. They have a free version.

For an old pencil and velum draughtsman, I find all of the CAD programs have a steep learning curve, and unless you use them daily (rather than a few times a year like me) I have to learn all over again each time!....
The best part of them is they can calculate areas and volumes, instead of having to use a Planimeter and Simpson's Rule!....
