SCBA Tank Maintenance

About five years ago my son in Arizona bought an Armada from AOA.
I did not know he bought a tank and he never told me.
I sent him a brand new Benjamin tank to get him started.
He said he had a friend who owned a dive shop (In Phoenix???) that would keep him in air.
Fast forward to two weekends ago.
I took a drive in the Silverado to visit the family and granddaughter.
Friday night he breaks out the Armada (with the factory tags still attached) as he wants me to show him how to load a magazine and shoot the rifle.
The rifle has 2300psi in the tube.
The Benjamin tank is still empty (in the box I shipped it in) and the the tank he bought from AOA has 2200psi.
So we load up a magazine and he commences to shoot in the backyard.
It is fine.
Now I want to show him how to air up the rifle but I told him with your rifle at 2200 and the tank at 2200 nothing will happen.
I am right but we go through the steps anyway.
So we examine the tanks.
The Benjamin is out of hydro of course and bright and early Saturday morning the tank from AOA becomes out of hydro, too.
We visited AOA on Saturday where I bought him some JSB 10.34 grain pellets for the Armada and we discussed the tank.
They said to bring it by and they would fill it and then he can go get it hydro-static tested after using that air.
So he didn’t need the Benjamin and I brought it home (I have another one).
I took it to Pacheco, CA (Concord) to get hydro tested last Friday (10-07). They called yesterday and said it will be ready tomorrow and that they had to replace the o-ring under the valve.
Excellent.
The moral of the story is the same we all preach.
Keep air in your PCP rifles and your SCBA tanks.
If you do not the o-rings will degrade.
My other Benjamin is older and when it was hydro tested the o-ring was fine.
Just so you know..
Stay safe.
