Breakfast this morning, at work, was a Jimmy Deans biscuit egg and sausage sandwich, and a slice of apple pie and a bit of a brownie. Apple pie and brownie were leftover dessert from yesterday's potluck luncheon.

I need to remind Betty Lou of one of the Thanksgiving meal staples.... Deviled eggs.
I didn't see her pick up any extra eggs from the store. I see a store run coming today.

Deviled eggs is one of our traditional Tday appetizers too. I'm pretty sure I could snarf down a dozen all by myself.

Deviled eggs are a family favorite here as well.
The Grand-kids love them so much Hoosier Momma has to make two trays and keep on in reserve.

Just the 2 off us so Betty Lou just makes a dozen (6 eggs) of them. They are gone by the end of Tday.
As of this morning she also added baked beans to the menu.

5 pounds of carrots are being cut into pieces 3/8" x 3/8'" x 2" . My sister is very particular about prepping and it's way too much effort to argue with her over the exact size. The turkey is being brined. I pulled the heart, liver and neck out and roasted those parts for the prep crew. Pumpkin pie and gingerbread cake is out of the oven and cooling. Deviled eggs are almost completed. When I get off the computer, I'll brown up some sausage for the stuffing. Some other stuff is probably happening in the kitchen but I'm just doing my thing.

Decided to do a double shift today. So, I'll be here until 11pm. Fortunately, all we have to do is provide a side dish for tomorrow's festivity. And by we, I mean Susan

I do the "bird"... Prep by injecting him with melted butter and seasoning...and then stuff the cavity with my old long gone Father in Laws recipe sage stuffing.
Give him a rub with actual butter from the stick, then put him in a bag.
Into the roaster, set the temp and walk away for 4-6 hours then carve.
My contribution is done.

My contribution is not done until I've sampled and approved everything. You know, just basic quality control. Sometimes I have to sample things several times just to be sure.

Dan the man of mystery I dig it.
Earlier I got me a 1/4" thick slice of Cajun turkey and slapped it on bread with cheese, a little Creole seasoning added to it with mayo n mustard. Enjoyed some spicy kettle chips with it too.
This evening I made up shrimp lo mien with extra shrimp. I added Korean bbq sauce for extra savory flavor, Szechuan sauce for spicy heat, and a little soy sauce for extra salt. Not bad!

Steak Fajita burritos, the steak was very tender and was a pleasure to bite and chew, very good flavor too. It was thin cut boneless chuck shoulder steak that I picked because of perfect looking marbling.

Brought burgers and fries home tonight. Eggnog while watching a couple Father Knows Best episodes with my peeps.
Turkey is prepped (spatchcocked and soaking in buttermilk and salt) waiting for the pellet grill tomorrow. I'll make some breakfast (eggs, bacon, English muffins) in the morning along with baking 3-4 buttermilk pies. Espresso drinks will be a must for the activities tomorrow morning too!
Happy Thanksgiving all!

I feel like eating turkey and stuffing today. Maybe some tate toes and vegies too. And deviled eggs for apps. Some apple, punkin and strawberry rhubarb pies would hit the spot. I've been stretching out my stomach so I might have room for home made gingerbread cake with whipped cream and a few chocolate chip cookies. Who knows what guests will show up with.
Happy TDay all.

I hear the kitchen springing to life... the smells of wonderment will soon follow. Betty Lou has been planning for a week... making the list and checking it twice. Only one extra trip to the store this year for forgotten items... more eggs.
We will also deliver a plate to Killer at the nursing home this afternoon. I talked to him on the phone yesterday and asked if anyone was bringing him dinner. He said he didn't think so and mentioned deviled eggs 3 times so we knew we needed more eggs.
Even Boss and Rambo will get a special meal today.

Was informed I'll be putting the Turkey on at 11:00 to eat at 14:00... "Wait, that is not long enough" I said.
She says "We aren't stuffing him this year so it will cook faster, especially in the bag, an only 12 lbs instead of the normal 20+" .
Wait... what.. No Stuffing?
Isn't that the whole point of a turkey ... to contain and add flavor to the stuffing?!
Turns out we are having "Dressing" not "Stuffing".
