Status of crossman/benjiman

In the last month of ordered twice from them. The part arrives, not a fast as it use to but it gets here.

  My last order (first week of this month) came in with a part that had been superseded,and other parts had changed, making the part I received truly obsolete. It was also pretty rusty. Another part in that order demonstrated cost cutting to the point of lesser quality. The Nitro Piston for the Valiant now has a smaller piston shaft (8 mm vs 10 mm) and the walls of the cylinder seem thinner. These things may well have occurred without Crosman being sold, concurrence does not always equal causality. However, a decline in quality after the sale isn't much of a surprise.

  Next month I'll stock up, as best I can, on the consumables for our airguns for the future. Availability and affordability may not be this good again.

I’m worried everything is going to China. Has anyone checked if the 2240 is still available on Amazon? That had nicely machined US parts.

Anyways I think Walmart finished them off when they stopped carrying air pistols.

Anyways I think Walmart finished them off when they stopped carrying air pistols.

Just recieved a 2240XL yesterday and it says made in China on the air tube.

Probably they already were a long time ago but weren’t too vulgar about it.

Despite that, I still love Crosman

Ordered parts Monday, tracking says they'll be here next Monday.  Lady said Crosman is keeping some stuff in NY, at least for now, like parts.

   I ordered some Disco sight mounting sleeve tubes last Tuesday and received them on Friday, so they are still shipping pretty quickly it seems.  I will stock up on parts this week since we don't know how long the NY location will keep shipping.

My 367 project was my last. It was also my best project thanks to Ron   .  I have enough spare parts now to support all of my guns for years to come. 

I hope that the Crosman legacy survives in some form once the dust settles with all of this.

I am pretty set on parts, but I need to order a 2240 to build a carbine with for summer plinking. over the last several years I built a .22 disco rifle(and a second for my dad) and pistol, 1322 rifle and pistol, and a 2240 pistol. I need to complete the set. Looks like I should do it sooner rather than later.

When you build it, look up the B. Staley mod,  it's O-rings between the hammer and valve,  ups the shot count. Here's a link to a thread I posted with my results,  they were pretty good. That B. Staley guy knows his stuff. I posted here, too, I'll add a link if I can.
