Releasing air pressure on a Crosman 760
«

Here is a Crosman Model 760 that I inherited from my father-in-law. I think it's the 2nd variant, according to the chart. It has a plastic stock and a brass bolt. The numbers "3" and "2" are stamped on the end cap.
It will pump up, but I can't release the air pressure. When I pull the trigger, nothing happens. How do I release the built-up air pressure? I'm reluctant to take it apart and work on it while it's charged.
Any help would be appreciated.

On the self cocking 760 the trigger holds the air in.
if the trigger is removed the 760 SC cannot hold air.
When you pump does it get harder to pump or does it stay the same?

The 760 2 ver. is pretty easy to rebuild.
Just be careful when you open the receiver case.
a couple of small springs like to pop out and hide.

Rick,
If you pay for shipping both ways and buy the seal kit I will rebuild it for no charge.

That's nice of you, John.
Cool rifle! I have one almost identical to it.
Stay safe,
J~

Thanks for all the replies. I appreciate them!
Jmoronic: The effort to pump it up stays the same. There is no increase in effort.
That's a very generous offer. I may take you up on that . I'll PM you later.
Thanks,

Rick, I don't think it is holding any air.
But I always make sure they are unloaded and on safe. then they get pointed away as I start the dis-assembly.

You can spend more money and buy a Mac1 flattop piston, but this should work great.
It will work in your self cocking 760, and it is budget frendly.
