In the backyard with the Benjamin 700 and 720 rifles

It was time to see what the 700 would do so to the backyard shooting range with my chrony. Used Crosman copper coated BB’s. Put 4 pumps in the 700 and over the chrony it was 410 fps. The was enough air left to power the next shot at 250. So my rifle is set to deliver a high of 410 and then store air. After 4 pumps, I could shoot and then do 3 pumps to maintain. I assume if I put up to 8 there would be the ability to do at least a couple shots but I’m not going to go that high with this old a gun that is a bit of a collector’s item. It shot very accurately but the deep V sights were difficult to center. The same sight that is on my 720. The 720 has recently been resealed by Baker airguns. It did 353 with 3, 446 with 4, 558 with 5. Shameless advertisement the 720 will be for sale at Kalamazoo this Sunday, the 700 for display. Trying to stay with prewar to help limit collection.

Forgot to say that in shooting these both you have no idea how light and petite a 700 is. You have none of the weight of that cocking arm. It is a cool unique experience. Kind of a shame its gone really, has a lot of good aspects.
