Title: My latest craigslist score... you probably won't believe it :)
Post by: rangerfredbob on September 10, 2013, 05:48:42 AM
On Thursday night I was cruising Craigslist as usual to see if there were any good airgun deals, typed in the normal stuff, then searched for "pellet guns" instead of the normal "pellet gun", the guys ad wasn't easy to find so I ended up with first dibs, $275 for the whole lot... I picked up the lot tonight, most of them need work, many need a lot of work but definitely got my money's worth... I count 62 BB/pellet guns, I didn't bother counting or doing an inventory on the cap and cork guns... Here's what I got:

Crosman:
Pell Master 700, 180, 180, V350, 66 Powermaster (metal receiver plastic stock), 788, 140, 1400, 101 (3 different ones, all in .22, one repeater... all have issues but at least 2 are saveable), 130, "22" (not really marked other than being a Crosman, I believe it's the one that takes the special CO2 tank...), 1377 Phase 2 times 2, 600 (not bad shape, but could use some cleaning up), 338 auto

Benjamin/Sheridan:
Benjamin G (really old, linear pump, not sure how it works...), Benjamin 312 .22, Benjamin 252 pistol in box with papers..., Sheridan Blue Streak (doesn't hold air, but is in great shape otherwise, it's the rocker safety style)

Daisy:
881, 106, 102, Sears 799-19120, 1894 times 3, 95, no 100 model 38, 99, 25, 105B, 96, no111 model 40, 86/70, 856, 120, 840, 2001 (missing the magazine but has the manual...), 188 times 2, CO2 100, three 1200's, 118 Targeteer, and two 177 Target Specials

Marksman:
MPR177 (repeater target pack thing, in box...), 1750 (break barrel)

Others:
Smith and Wesson 78G in .22, Webley and Scott Tempest, Plainsman 175, APP 661 CO2 BB repeater pistol in box, Industry B3 .177 in box, DAR, Hy Score 806, Milbro Scout, a really rough Slavia 619, and two unknowns (one similar to a Daisy BB rifle and the other a break barrel)

A lot of work ahead of me, but I should actually be able to make my money back pretty quick I imagine, I'll start with selling a good portion of the Daisy's and the cap guns and cork guns...

First 3 pics are from the craigslist ad, last 4 are from when I got them in my living room... none of them unloaded on my floor, couch, wherever I could get them out of the boxes :)

Needless to say, I'm done buying airguns for a while... With these that makes 82 or so airguns in my house...

Anywho, I'm gonna want help refurbishing the Benjamin/Sheridan's and the Crosman 140/1400, The main one I'll want help with is the Benjamin model G, like how it's supposed to work and how to get it apart to get it working again... google wasn't the most helpful...

My wife tolerates my obsession with air guns for now but if I were to bring all that home I would have to live in the storage building with it  :o If I could convince her that I was going to make some money she might be okay with it but she knows I would keep all the good stuff for myself ;D

Great find those lever action 1894 Daisy air rifles look really cool.

Awesome score!!!

That first pic, the 8th gun from the left?  Wondering what make/model?  Looks like my pops old Sheridan from when I was kid.

Thanks.

If you're looking to sell any pistols let me know. :) I'm a pistol loving guy. Especially top left and the one to the left of the all silver one on the right. Or bottom left or the one in the yellow box. All look a bit like Luger P08's. My favorite handgun of them all.

WOW!  That's the most amazing airgun "score" that I have ever seen!  You have enough projects to last for years!  Congratulations!

Is that bottom right pistol an old 1322?

Edit: Nevermind, the two 1322 are in the top right area. What is the bottom right pistol? I think it is an old Crosman design...

That would be a rocker safety blue streak in ~90% condition :), that one is staying in my collection, just need to reseal it and get some .20 pellets...

That's a Crosman 130, very nice little pistol, being .22 it's the base of the 1322, there have been some changes over the years...

Top left corner is the Plainsman .175 with the 12g CO2 cap, the one above the Crosman 600 is a Daisy CO2 100, bottom left is the Crosman 338 Auto missing the front sight, and the one in the box is the APP 661.

I'm not sure which of anything I'm going to sell at this time, I'm going to want to shoot anything that's functional first before I decide :), anyone showing interest will get first dibs though...

good score. now you will not have to look on craigslist anymore. I do the same thing, I look every day.
My job affords me the time to be on craigslist a lot. Most of my guns come from there.
Good luck

Most of the Benjamin, Sheridan and Crosman guns will stay with me, I know they're the most sought after, but I like them :). I don't think I'll be selling anything for a couple weeks, as I want to do some research on some of the odd stuff I have, and do some testing to make sure that I have works or not (takes a while on 62 guns...), I'll probably make a for sale post late next week...

Did you buy from the owner or his "heirs and assigns"?  One very good reason to keep an inventory, including estimated fair market value your each gun.  You never know.  My uncle and aunt divorced.  She got the house and contents, including a few guns he had left behind.  Auntie took them over to the local gunshop to see what she had.  Guy offered her $100 apiece for them.  WWII Springfield sniper, WWII M1 Garand (accurized Winchester), M1 carbine, Fox 12 gauge double, .243 customized Mauser sporter, German Luger, just to name a few.  She knew that Unkie never was one to stint on his toys, so told him to take a hike.  Not all folks are so knowledgeable.  And then there's the guy who's been telling the missus he's only been paying fifty bucks for those "toys".  ;-)

Hey, how much do you want for the Daisy 840? I was thinking about buying one for my 6 year old son. The 840 is the gun I had when I was a kid. I was gonna buy the one that's on Gunbroker.com for $35.00 / $14.00 shipping, but I'd much rather support a fellow GTA member.

Let me know.

The 840 needs a new business end, big crack through the valve/hammer/transfer housing piece... I'm gonna need to make a parts order through some Daisy parts house as I need parts for this, the 881, and an 880 I have so far... The 840's are still available, this one doesn't look too old and not sure how someone broke it...

On another note, one of the rifles I was most excited about was the Crosman 140 and 1400, the 1400 is rough and missing the linkage between the piston and lever, and the screws for the rear sight... The 140 on the other hand has apparently been resealed at some point in it's life, is in pretty good shape, wasn't originally holding air for longer than a couple seconds but a little oil and higher pressure (5 pumps) it holds pressure now! I'll have to pull the blue streak out and try the same on that...

Ok, that's cool. Just thought I'd ask. The reason I am looking for an old 840 is because all the new ones have even MORE plastic than the old ones did, and they all come in that loud, awful, tacky, gaudy camouflage color... YUCK. Give me a classic-looking stock any day.

Here's some of the keepers from the lot for you guys to drool over, these are the ones that have turned out to be functional (or in the case of the 101, mostly functional), top to bottom for those that don't know:Crosman 101, Crosman 140, Crosman 180, Benjamin 312. The 101 only holds a couple pumps worth of air because the piston seal leaks and doesn't build up pressure, 140 and 180 work great and I believe both have been resealed and refinished at some point, the 312 needed a new pivot pin but that was super easy, turns out it had been resealed so it holds air perfect, the pump seal on it isn't ideal so there's a lot of head space.

Like I said, keepers, drool all ya want but they're mine :).

I do have a question on the 140 with the auto cocking feature, it cocks itself on the first pump and works great, but if you pump it 8 or more times you'll hear two pops of air, sounds like it releases the pellet then still has some pressure left over and recocks the hammer but since you still have the trigger pulled it fires again, any way around this, or is it just a note to not pump past 8?

Scott, this is for you and your rifles--OOOOOOOOO!

When I was about 12 years old, my mother's brother (Uncle Herman) gave me a "101" to use.  He asked for it back when his boys got old enough.  A little while after that, my dad bought a "310" (the BB version of the 312).  Tim and Sue Smith just finished rebuilding it for me.

You are a blessed person.

You guys weren't kidding on the cap guns... Looked up the Hubley Rifleman that's in the lot and holy cow... mint in box they go for $600-700, shape mine is in they go for $150-200 (on the 10 minute web search I did last night...)...If someone here is interested I'll give them a deal compared to ebay and such... this one is mint except for the stock that is missing a piece under the lever and the grip cap, and just has some other minor issues around where it mounts to the action.

:)

Just the other day I fixed up the Crosman 1400, it was missing the pump linkage, and the piston cup was done... So I took some 1/8" by 1/2" flat bar and cut it to length and drilled the appropriate holes at the end, the pivot hole at the pump arm was wallowed out so it got drilled to 1/4" and a new pin made from 1/4" SS rod, to make mushrooming the ends easier I drilled shallow holes in from each end, worked well. For the piston, I didn't want to wait for parts so I chucked some 5/8" aluminum in the lathe and made an O ring conversion piece like the Mac1 design just out of aluminum, loctited it in place then adjusted the piston length. The thing works great now, the only thing it needs is screws and a ramp for the rear sight, just need to find some 3/32" aluminum and I'll make a ramp, hoping to find screws locally so I don't have to make or order them.

I also just resealed the Blue streak on Saturday, haven't been home with daylight since I did that to shoot it, but it holds air nicely now.

The 312 needs a new pump seal of some sort, it doesn't pump up very well anymore.

Wow is the pistol right above the crosman p38 or338 a Smith and Wesson 79 g ? It is to pistols down from the daisy 188s left side looking at picture. That gun alone in working order is a $ 200.00 gun
You can find parts for most of these airguns at j.g airguns. They specialize in parts for repair and restoration.
Nice find
