Texan .45 cal Bullet Weights?

Al Nelson of NOE has asked me to poll Air Force Texan owners regarding what they would like to see available for bullet moulds.... Please choose up to four weights from the above list, selecting the closest weight(s).... If you would like to add any comments about the "as cast" diameter, nose style, meplat size, base style, or other comments, we are open to suggestions.... I think he is primarily interested in what a "stock" Texan can use, not a highly modified one.... as they are often set up for existing bullets....

My .45 Texan SS shoots the 265 and 290 grain NSA bullets excellently at 50 yards and the 240 grain bullets acceptably. It shoots all lighter ammo poorly, except for Hornady Roundball, which is shoots great. I did shoot the Lyman Collar Button bullets well until I polished the barrel, then it started spraying them. Its lobbing the heavy bullets. I can't shoot the heavier slugs faster than the low and middle 700s. I'd love to have some light weight HP designs for hunting to choose from that would let me retain some faster velocities that's still acceptably accurate out to 50 yards. I have not tried Bob's BT in 244gn yet.

My 45 Texan seems to likes the 220gr hollow point so that’s what I’ve been shooting.

As you helped me with the .457 bullet that ended up being a 326/327gr HP you might remember that my Texan is a Doug Noble mod so in that configuration would not count.
But I have a stock valved tank too and so the gun can be either way.
As a stock gun and a goal of decent velocity I would prefer the 250/260 but only in that weight as a HP which would make it almost too heavy as a FP.
One item I will note is the 457 Texan has a fairly short chamber and the bases of longer bullets stick out into the loading tray 'unsupported' and I have found that adversely effects accuracy. The bullet not being cocked in the chamber and seating depth consistency have a HUGE result on accuracy which is why I was having the front OD of the bullet be bore riding so the entire thing could be pushed into the chamber consistently.

Carl, that is exactly the type of feedback I need.... Has anyone else had difficulty loading bullets straight in the Texan because the front driving band is too big?.... I would assume about 0.002" over the land diameter, for a "semi-bore riding" fit for the front of the bullet is about right?....

That's what has worked for me.
In experiments, I took a 236gr .452 heavy TC bullet ACP mold and opened up the last two bands to 457 and it became the most accurate bullet in my Texan. The origional OD section presses into the rifling without excessive force and the oversize bands just fit into the chamber with the base flush with the barrel.

350gr HP similar to the NOE ranch dog mold with less bands would be Ideal. I have thought about trying the gas check version out.
