Maybe it went Tootsie, checkered, smooth, then checkered again.

Here is where we're at on the 3 different 340 series forearm grips;Per Benjamin catalogs:Tootsie-------- 68 thru 71'72 - unknown.Plain-------------73-76Checkered---- 77- '82 (end of Benjamin production)There was also a photo of a 310 series with a smooth tootsie grip posted at AVA. I do not know at this point if the smooth grip was a part of the 340 series.In addition; it is unclear what took place immediately following the '82. What I can say is that some where between the '82 & '90 the plain forearm grip surfaced again as is evident in my '90 342.
Between the "Tootsie" and the "Checkered" was "Smooth"

Scott, here's one Fletcher posted. According to him they were Montgomery Wards issued...
