Check with your local Ace or True Value Hardware store and see if they have thin brass shim stock. It can be cut to provide a couple of thin strips and one strip on each side of the rail can be used tocenter the sight. Might work better than tape which can be a bit "squishsy".HTH
Or you could use strips cut from a soda can.
I’m hoping someone can help with this: I have an HW diopter sight that’s made for use on a 13mm rail. I want to use it on the 11mm rail on my HW50s springer. Is there some way I can adapt it, without making any permanent changes to it? I was thinking of putting strips of electrical tape on the clamping section of the rail to cover the extra 2mm, but I wanted to check here first in case anyone has any tips or tricks. Any help, as always, is much appreciated.AJ
My favorite source of high-quality shim stock is a cheap feeler gauge. You get a nice assortment of thicknesses for a few bucks.Tight groups,Bob
I won’t say that I would not try shims if I were in a pinch but 1mm per side (almost 0.040”) is ambitious to say the least. The height of the dovetail is probably not even that much, meaning the shim will have a nearly square cross section and will more apt to slip. Or let’s say flip up out of the groove.I frequently make shim stock from a soda can for making minor windage corrections, up to 0.020” thick (long strip folded into 4 layers). That thickness is quite stable in a typical 3/8” or 11mm dovetail. I haven’t tried more than that so I don’t want to say it’s a bad idea, it’s just that the proportions don’t inspire confidence. Please fill us in if you try it.

Same dilemma as you is what prevented me from making an offer on it.Will be following this thread to see how it works out for you. Sorry I can't offer any advice.Dennis
Hey guys, a quick update.I decided to let the sight go. The plan was to try to rig it to work if it didn’t sell, but someone came forward on AA to buy it. Many thanks to those who took the time to share their knowledge on the subject. I really do appreciate it. Even though I won’t be trying any of the methods, I know that they’re good to have for future projects and will be useful somewhere down the line.AJ

Yours was a lot more reasonable.https://www.ebay.com/itm/WEIHRAUCH-HW-Diopter-Rear-Sight-11mm-BEEMAN-RWS-Sporting-Match-Air-Rifles/323692672646?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
I think for now I'm going to stick with my Anschutz sights...turns out I may actually prefer them to HW's sight, though both are beautifully built tanks.
