I thought I'd show you guys a project I've been workin on, I bought this awhile back and I finally got around to gettin it done. It is still in its break in period I've probly put 150 shots thru it since I went thru the motions of the build process. I bought this rifle new about a year ago and new out of the box it was shooting at 749fps with CPH's, I wasn't to impressed with that so I tore her down to do so tweeking to the internals polishing the spring lubing {etc} and it still didn't perform as well as it could have, so just about that time Tom at Vortek was just comming out with his new kit for the R1 guns so I waited untill it was released and then tore this rifle down for a real tune. I've had many long conversations with Tom over the last year and a half about his products and the materials that he uses in them and the way his springs are made, the type of metallurgy is different in his springs compared to the older technology that most of us are use to. Toms springs use a smaller wire dia to achieve and in most cases better results and they are stronger and smoother and quicker in motion. I have used his kits in other guns I've built and all I can say is I'm very happy with the results. His kit perform like a gas ram in feel, short smooth and fast! with no noise just a thunk. So any way I sent the compression tube out to be sunnen honed and sent the Barrel to RFM for a chop down to 15'' and had a delrin muzzle break put on it to help cut down on the weight of the rifle, which it now comes in at a tic under 8lbs unscoped. I got all the parts back and put everything back together and started to install the Vortek kit. I will say that you will need a spring compressor to install this kit cause it has alot of preload on it unlike the factory spring which can be removed and reinstalled without a spring compressor. Ok I got the everything buttoned up and all is good so on out to the chrony, I did a few test shots to make sure everything was in proper working order alls well so I started runnin some #'s and got an ave of 825fps with CPH's, on this new kit which was a 76fps gain over the stock internals from HW. The seal in the kit is just alittle tight so I'm gonna let it breakin on its own and I expect the #'s to come way up after breakin. But all in all I'm very happy with the results.

I love my spring guns even tho I have some expensive PCP's I will never stop shooting my springers! The Dark Side will never take me completely over as it has some, spring guns are just to funn to shoot and are challenging un like a PCP's and I love a good challenge!
