Hi everyone. Great to see whe have a new German gate to discuss, post pictures of, and admire the German-made airguns out there. I own two, a Diana 34 in .22 cal with the new T06 trigger and an R9 in .20 cal. Both great guns for sure!
Like many of us, I'm of German descent, though it was my grandfather's grandfather who came to America from Germany. Due to my interest in family history and languages, I studied German while in college. Its a tad rusty, but its still quite good, though not perfect, especially dealing with German legalese or technical German. Despite that, I wanted to offer to help with any language-related stuff dealing with airguns people on this gate might have to perhaps expand my knowlege of airgun-related German vocabulary and to lend a hand. Please limit anything you'd like me to translate to a
few words or short phrases
though. People don't realize how time-consuming translating anything longer is. I won't spend the time on long stuff, so please don't ask, and I might just ignore those requests.
(I spent 10 years teaching beginning and intermediate German and correcting essays, so been there, done that).
Oh, and in case you are wondering, here is what Redfeather's circa 1903 Diana GEM says on the barrel in German from the Re: lets see those Fraulein's !!!(german pic thread)

DIANA-LUFT-GEWEHR= "Diana air arm" or Diana airgun. "Gewehr" is used to mean gun, rifle, pistol etc.
Not too earth-shattering of a translation I know, but hope it helps cure any curiosity people might have had.

Oh mark I'm sure of it too! I loved your R9! Yesterday member Calmark came over for the "unofficial" first NorCal fun shoot.
We had a blast shooting all our guns. There was a bunch of springer's, two NP's one craigeslist rescue and a tuned one, and a Benji 392. My pool table was covered with guns and at least 14 different tins of pellets. What a sight to take in! Usually its just me sitting sipping at my coffee mumbling "YOU PULLED IT!" to myself. I really enjoyed getting to shoot with Mark and chew the fat with somebody who knew what i was talking about. Mark is a very smart cookie forsure. And a valued member here on the GTA. As a gift he brought two six packs of micro brew. It was form Sierra Nevada brew co. It was a great wheat brew, or since where in the German gate a Hefeweizen...cheers Bart
BTW i never would have got "DIANA-LUFT-GEWEHR= "Diana air arm" or Diana airgun. "Gewehr" is used to mean gun, rifle, pistol etc.".....thanks

"Luft" as in "Luftwaffe", the German Air Force of WWII.
