That is a lot more fun and challenging then shooting at 10 yds. not easy to walk them in with open sites. a scope with mil dots could be put to good use

Word of caution: Laws have changed and railroads are getting quite ugly with trespassers. 9/11 stuff you know. That and lawsuits. If you are seen with anything that looks like a gun out on the RR you may be in for a rather unpleasant visit form the Dept. of Homeland Security after you sit in jail for a few days. I know a guy that was shooting a potato gun on a vacant wooded lot in the country and was arrested because the local school board owned the property. No kids or schools for miles but it was technically school property. A lawyer got the felony charge dropped but his attorney fees would have bought a TX200, Prosport, both in walnut, a very nice PCP with tank and compressor and a lifetime supply of pellets.
Other than that, Good shooting!

No bull.
I work for a Railroad, and you WILL get reported if seen in the right of way, especially with something that resembles a firearm. We are required by the company, and Federal law, to report it immediately to the dispatcher or supervisor.
DHS might not show up, but the local police surely will, and then the Railroad Police.
Yeah each Railroad has its own police force believe it or not, and they have the same authority and powers as a Federal Marshall.
You would more than likely receive only a warning once they figured out that you were harmless, but that would be after you were potentially face down, cuffed, detained, and questioned.
Of course, if you know the guys working out there, and they don't care or wont say anything, then carry on.
Be careful around the tracks my friend, and always remember the #1 rule of Railroading-
If it's a tie, the Locomotive always wins.
Good video by the way, and it is hard to resist the long clearing for some target rifle practice!! I understand fully, just be careful and keep an eye out my friend.

Glad to saw our genuine concern. It looks like that line sees little traffic so your chances of getting hit by a train are less likely to happen. Railroads are important to national security and lose one bridge and that line is shut down. All railroad employees must go through security awareness training due to 9/11.
Anyway, good shooting.

A very prudent caution regarding railroads and trains.
