A cheap BAM 19 .177

About 3 months ago i bought a cheap gun,a .177 BAM 19.
After some time playing with hatsans wanted to see what this thing can do.
For 100€ a brand new gun came home with me.
I found some ftt's 4.52 somewhere and i made the first shots.
Every type of "scratch" sounds was made when i cocked the gun...
After 4 shots i had no smoke,2 more over the chrony gave 920+ fps,16 fpe plus.
I had another four shots of hand at 10 meters and was happy to see they went close enough.
I left it and went to work,10 shots with the gun.
Later that evening i had a coffee with the 19.
First i tightened the screw behind the trigger so i can shoot using one finger,i needed two fingers for the trigger
Then i had 5 shots to get warm, the next 5 shots (on rest-10 meters) are these
Not bad i thought, the gun has 20 shots,so i got serius and shoot another 5 shots
Not bad,not bad at all with this gun
I was very happy with my new toy, here are some photos of her
Made in Germany...
There was an owners manual in the box
The next day a friend came to see and shoot her, here are the results (on rest - 10 meters-8 shots)
1 cm group with the open sights and you can see some pellets stucked one another...
So,all my friends told me to play with here as she was before i tuned her just to see how good is from the factory.
I agreed but i had to do something about that trigger,i did this (the video is mine with my gamo but i did the same things)
here is the factory scew and the headless allen i used
Some photos of the upgraded trigger
The trigger is VERY IMPORTANT for accuracy (10 meters - 5 shots - on rest)
I had already installed an adjustable buttplate which i needed
I have about 50-60 photos of groups at 10 meters, they are nice but no need to put more here.
So i agreed not to tune her but no one said anything about the stock...
Story with photos...
First i
Then using this
i did that
I left it for a day or two,i made some trials, the final shape is this
Then i sanded it with hands using 100-200-400-800-1000-1200-1500 sandpapers
My friends were asking how she looks,i gave them this photo
Then Sunday came and they could test it,all liked her with her new look, makes shooting of hand easy.
Here is a friend shooting her
I mounted a Sniper (Leapers) 4-16x40 on
and after zeroing
But shooting to 25 meters the gun was a dissapointment, the factory seal and the spring are not good enough.
So i opened her (very easy),cleaned everything inside and installed a piston seal from an Air Arms TX 200 that i had
and whitch suits perfectly to the BAM,the diameter of the seal is 25mm.
The spring was 25cm long,od 18.8mm & id 12.8mm and wire thickness is 3mm.
I had a spring for hatsan allready used on one of my guns (od 19.3mm) and i cut it to 23cm.
I used sg3 for the piston and the spring and moly for the seal.
I didn't like the fiber optic sights so i found on my -what i don't use- box a nice Diana 34 sight that i mounted infront
To the back i fitted one from gamo
Also the barrel was covered with carbon
The gun worked fine from the first shot, the seal is very good and one thing i learned after too many hatsans is that their spring is very good
and gives consistancy
So,she went over the chrony and the numbers were 753-765 fps using Air Arms 8.44 4.52.
After 200 shoots she was shooting 800-803 fps and after another 500 shots she is shooting 860-861 fps with the AA 8.44 and stayed there
Very pleased with this cheap gun so far,she is VERY smooth (and need's less effort to cock),seems to have a good barrel and she is accurate.
She came to stay

I enjoy this gun,light weight,accurate,smooth...
I mostly shoot her of hand so i wanted to make things easy for me.
I wanted a hamster for the gun that :
-It will be easy to change place on gun or be removed
-I can use it on my other guns
-is cheap
the result was this
It's made by 2 pieces of aluminium and a weaver ring.
I cut the ring (the scope part),shaped the aluminium and weld them.
No cost at all,i had an old ring and the alu is from an old cpu.
Some more picts
On the Bam
changing place
changing gun
I tried it and makes shooting of hand much easier

A friend liked my gun and asked me if i can do something with his,
he made the basic sanding and his stock was like this
He wanted something that looks like walnut so after i finished his gun looks like that
Look at this blade for the trigger
it's alloy hand made and setback
On the gun
Some more photos
Also some soft springs for the first stage of the trigger were made (inox)
Trigger is now soft and crispy

That's what I call making a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Nice rifle. Your friend must be well pleased with the new stock.

Incredible!
Accuracy that matches the best German sporters, and a stock that looks like molten lava!
Love it!
