A couple age old questions?

Ok, so I am a owner of a HW95 in .22cal and a RX2 .20cal.  On the RX I have a BKL One Piece droop mount.  I like to hunt anything from chipmunk size quarry to taking a raccoon and/or fox.  I also love to target shoot from 50yds-130yds.

1) What type and brand of mount and scope would you choose for the HW and RX (minus the mount for the RX) and why.  Price range: $100-$300

2) HW (brand new basically); RX at least 6yrs old. To tune or not to tune? (HW question; tune after break in or now?) 
 
3) What kit and why?

4) Whom would you recommend for each rifle and why?

5)  RX question: What is a good fill pressure for the RX and why?

I use Burris Signature rings on my HW's. I like the Hawke Panorama scopes but I don't shoot past 50 yards so You may need more magnification.
I tune out of the box. I like to know there are no internal problems before shooting. I prefer JM kits as I find Vortek too snappy for my taste.

i use the old beeman adjustable mounts but since they're not available....look into millett windage adjustable mounts and i use a BSA 2-7 Air Rifle scope.

2) HW (brand new basically); RX at least 6yrs old. To tune or not to tune? (HW question; tune after break in or now?) 

you could 'tune' it by simply cleaning, re-lubing, replacing "O" rings and piston seal and cleaning off any burrs on anything that needs it

factory recommends no more than 24 BAR. i keep mine at 22 BAR...it shoots very accuratlye at that pressure and at 73 years of age, it don't get no easier to cock for me

I don't have an RX, so my answers will only pertain to your 95:
1. Assuming you'll be shooting max distance 100 yards.  Bushnell Legend 5-15x40 if you can find one, SWFA SS16X, Weaver Classic V16 (on sale at Natchez for $225 with mil-dot), or Clearidge UXP 4-16 or 6-20 (slightly over your budget).  For rings I'd use a BKL dovetail-to-weaver riser and low Burris Signature Zee rings or just BKL double-straps if you don't dig risers.
2.  Definately tune after about 500 shots.
3.  Tune kit: your choice, either Maccari or Vortek.  I like the Maccari Hornet kit, but Vortek has great stuff too.
4.  You.  Read how to do it, buy the lube you'll need, buy the kit (or just lube-tune it until parts need to be replaced later), and tear into it.  You'll get a lot of satisfaction shooting a rifle you personally improved.
If tuning it yourself is not an option, ship it to Motorhead and have him do whatever he thinks it needs.  He's a wizard...I think he wears a Ring of Power or something.  Joe P. knows but refuses to talk about it.

6.  Yes, there is a small allen inside accessed by bending the tab in front out of the way (after you remove the trigger).  Do a search for Rekord Trigger Adjust and there are pictures and probably videos of what to do.

My personal opinions not to be confused with ABSOLUTE fact!

I've used cheap Accushot mounts ($about $11) and more expensive BKL mounts (2 piece double strap about $38 and one piece at about $57) and they both have worked well for ME. I do have some personal issues with the BKL double strap mounts because 15 in/lbs of torque on the less than 1/2" wide top straps can damage a scope tube, whereas 10 in/lbs of torque on the straps allowed the scope to shift on my R9.

I even had issues with scope shifting in the rings with the BKL one piece mount and 12 in/lbs of screw torque, however no scope tube damage. Also, BKL recommends a max of 35 in/lbs of base screw torque and I found that using 25 in/lbs of torque will allow some slippage on my R9.......

I was able to stop the scope shifting in the one piece BKL mount at 12 in/lbs of torque by lining the scope mount rings with trimmed cloth based electrical friction tape. I also stopped the "scope with mount" shifting by first squeezing the bottom of the mount together close enough so the mount wouldn't slide on the guns dovetails and then carefully using screws in the "spreader holes" to open the base just enough to slide onto the dovetail. After removing the screws in the "spreader holes" the mount will clamp the dovetails so tight that it can't be shifted by hand and then a final 35 in/lbs of torque on the  base screws will lock the mount solidly to my R9.

The BKLs mave no stop pins which is the reason for the extra care in mounting them.
 
The cheap Accushot mounts have top straps that are almost 1" wide and 4 smaller screws in the corners of each strap, plus the rings are lined with "gripping fabric" which allows a firm scope mount with relatively little torque on each screw. Accushot recommends a maximum ring screw torque of 15 in/lbs and base screw torque of 35 in/lbs, however I've found that only 12 in/lbs of screw torque on the small strap screws will hold my heavy 3-12x44 Optisan Viper scope firmly on my R9, however I do use the recommended maximum base screw torque of 35 in/lbs even though the Accushot mount is supplied with a stop pin that engages the stop pin hole in my R9 receiver. LOL....here is a pic of R9 receiver stop pin hole deformation from scope/mount trying to shift rearward with recoil.......

LOL....kinda gives an appreciation of the stresses even a moderately tuned R9 puts on a scope!

The BKL mounts and the Accushot mounts use a different method of keeping the scope and mount on the receiver. The BKL uses "clamp pressure" applied by multiple base screws to hold things tight and the clamping arrangement looks like this........

The BKLs will center the scope over the dovetails on the receiver  better than the Accushot with separate clamp plate, but with my shooting skills I really don't see much difference in function.

LOL....scopes you ask....depends on personal preference of features and if the scope is indeed "springer proof"! I've had good success with a cheap 4-16x40 WallyMart Adventure Class Center Point at less than $80 but I'm currently using a $350 3-12x44 Optisan Viper on my R9. I replaced the previous 3-12x50 Aeon with the Viper because the Viper has an illuminated reticle feature that helps with seeing the reticle against a dark target in the shadows. The Aeon works great but it's fine crosshairs and small mil-dots do tend to get "lost" on dark targets in the shadows. There are as many different preferences as there are shooters on this one I suppose so no hard answer here from me!

LOL....I thought that a "rammer" (the RX) didn't need tuning!  The HW95/R9 on the other hand does benefit from a proper tune IF twang and vibration or objectionable to you! I've read a lot of "weasel words" thrown about by those who espouse tuning with terms like "more linear shot cycle", however I've found that while my R9s were more consistent after a home tune and have a much nicer shot cycle.......I really can't say that they are more accurate after the tune than before with my shooting skills. Every .177 R9 I've owned, tuned, sold would shoot a CPL on a 1/2" diameter ctc group at 30 yards, even in "factory twang mode" after a bore clean and a few dozen fouling shots. You have to decide if you want to spend $$ on making the gun nicer to shoot or not!

3) What kit and why?
I've been buying bare springs and making up my own kits for a couple decades now, but when I bought complete kits I liked the kits from Jim Maccari at Air Rifle Headquarters best.

4) Whom would you recommend for each rifle and why?

Don't have a clue since I've never sent out my HW springers to be tuned.

5)  RX question: What is a good fill pressure for the RX and why?
I only know what I've read.......max ram pressure isn't good! The RXs Beeman sold used to have a valve attached for adjusting the ram pressure but this was discontinued due to warranty issues because the guns were being abused by owners overcharging their rams. If I had to hazard a guess it be best to go as stress free as possible and still maintain a workable trajectory.

6) Rekord trigger adjustment: Is there more than the screw behind the trigger for adjustment?
There are two adjustment screws. One small Torx screw that resides under the trigger guard for adjusting the sear engagement. This I like to call the "forbidden screw" because it's easy to improperly adjust the amount of sear engagement making the gun unsafe. Basically it's a "LAWYER FEATURE" and my new HW springers with Rekord triggers have needed the "forbidden screw" to be adjusted to my personal preference. There is another larger slotted screw of either bare or gold anodized  aluminium that's accessible through the trigger guard for adjusting the pull weight. Like the "forbidden screw" this can be ill adjusted making the trigger unsafe or prone to failing to function. To adjust this screw I usually hold the gun vertical (muzzle up) and loosen the slotted screw till the trigger blade falls of it's own weight, then I tighten the adjustment screw till the trigger blade rises to a "stop" and then I tighten 1/2 turn more. A good way to test the safety of your trigger adjustment is to load a pellet and in a safe area/direction smack the butt plate firmly. If the gun discharges with the solid rap the trigger adjustment is unsafe. With the trigger adjustment I use the trigger blade will not return to the "pre 1st stage position" once it's pulled to the second stage. If you increase the trigger pull weight enough the trigger blade will return to the 1st stage when released if the second stage isn't tripped......however such a setting gives too pull weight for me!
