With the exception of some plastic spacers and a few stainless bolts, all parts were made from material I had laying around the shop.
The wood in the first one is redwood, saved from a construction project where it was being used to frame a commercial walk-in freezer. The aluminum was from some heavy duty shelf supports that got demo'd from the same project. The design is intended to be useful both for offhand and bench shooting.
The next one uses teak, saved from a construction job where they were using reclaimed teak to frame a huge fireplace in a restaurant. The knurled parts are from an old camera tripod mount with some brass plumbing bits thrown in the mix too. This design is aimed more toward purely offhand shooting.
Another fun project that took entirely too much time. I enjoyed every minute!
As you can see, I need to re-do the black posts. The rear one is actually canted forward (I thought it was just like that in the pic, but it's actually leaning forward) and I'd like to use some black delrin rod to make the new posts. The current posts are from a hydraulic tube out of an old mountain bike fork, with threaded inserts installed.
Thanks for looking-
Paul

Very nice work!
I've never seen these before so I learned something new and got to see some fine craftsmanship.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys. I'm going to try to get out this week and do some comparison shooting with and without the hamster attached.
Sure hope it makes a difference!
