That doesn't look very comfortable or stable, maybe use wood instead?
I did say both "cheap" and "super simple", after all.
If you've ever wanted to do a carbine, or a youth gun, I have a simple, cheap way to do the stock. You simply take the front end off of a hacksaw (the part that should slide out), wrap it with some athletic tape/wrap, and there you go. If you want to get slightly more complicated, you could add blocks to one or both sides to widen it, or shape it into the shape of an actual stock. Now, it's not the greatest solution, but if you're low budget, it could be just what you need. If nothing else, I've found that athletic tape is very comfortable on the cheek.
