RWS 48 info

Have older RWS 48 .22 cal Ser#02060386 , would some one Please direct me to where I could find out what spring kit would function in this airgun. I've looked at Monolith spring and kit, GRT Main spring and Kit. Other than cleaning and oiling the barrel I have done no maintenance on any air gun but there is a lot of good info on these forums to guide newbees. The gun has set for about for 3 years with no use so may need tune up? I read older 48 will not take the force created by the stronger springs? looking at the spare parts cat. part 19 &19a I don't see in the breach or on the compression tube, any help will be welcomed Thanks Lloyd

Welcome to the GTA. If I were you, I'd clean any and all oil out of the barrel before shooting to prevent detonation. As for the rest of your questions, hang on and some of our experts will give you better information than I could.

thanks for the welcome Richard I didn't know about the problem with too much oil until I read about it in here, after I had shot the gun , the report was louder than a .22 rim fire. What a surprise !!!

I found this on the Maccari site.......
http://www.airrifleheadquarters.com/catalog/item/251488/6962763.htm
Looks like it would work, but wait for one of the othere members to confirm it as I'm no expert on the 48's.

I'll say this about that. I have two of them 48 guns and they are as much power as you will ever need and plenty accurate to boot.

I think that spring and guide set up will work but you'll probably need to replace the breech and piston seal as well to give it all a fresh start! do not use any kind of oils of any kind on the internals! oils are not good for airguns and will damage and destroy the gun and possibly injure you in the process! Proper lubes are required such as tar and moly,

HERE ARE SOME IDEALS FOR YOU COMPRESSOR!
I USE THE TOP ONE PLUS I HAVE A HOME MADE ONE AS WELL.
I just got into the 48/52 and really like the side cocker. That is after I gor use to it. Tryied to break the barrel over several times.LOL
lOVE THE SHORT STYLE OF THE GUN. One has the T01 AND HAS BEEN WORKED and is a very light pull. The other has the T05 and has been polished and is light as well on the pull.
These guns are not a 350 in power but are smooth shooting and have ample power in .177 and .22. The spring kits really make these guns much smoother. I still like the beasty 350 as you can tell by what I have.

I don't know what I have for trigger or the date of man. Hope to get some of that info. here . This 48 had a rws scope on it that I could not adjust to shoot higher than 2" low at 10 YRDS so I replaced it with a simmons .22 scope which worked fine. The rws was laying around on the reloading bench so for fun I reversed the scope on the bar mount installed it on a marlin 60 and it adjusts 100% go figure.
I'm sure I'll have a fun time with the 48 after I learn a little more about it and tune it. The sights if they are metal must be alu. a magnet will not stick to them. Sure would like to know the date of man. Think I'll swap scopes since the 48 and the rws go together
Great sight

Your 48 is probably got "barrel droop"...quite common, and no problems. You need to purchase a UTG brand "RWS 48,54 droop compensating mount". Or the RWS Lockdown 1pc mount. They will get your scope back to center, where it needs to be if you want them to last. The 48 is hard on scopes, so regular rifle scopes won't last long on them.

Here is another that has been used by many by RWS. It is offered in both 1" & 30mm ring size, so you need to check sizes.
