Not particularly pretty but I'm not sure that I'd call it ugly either. Kind of SKS ish crude.
Were you able to improve the trigger?
I haven't posted much in the last few day. Just haven't felt well. Didn't go to our fun shoot last weekend. Asked my doctor awhile back if she thought I'd live to be very old. She said ,"You already have".Ernie, looking at the pics of your B3 I'm inclined to say it's a B3-0 or B3 dash nothing. It reminded me of the one I call a -1 is a -0. I say that because it appears to have the rear sight welded behind the breech and has no 11mm scope grooves. Also no recoil pad. The -1's with scope grooves had the rear sight welled in front of the breech. I've had 'em all but the -0 I have left has the Industry brand emblem, <I>, and MADE IN SGANGHI, CHINA stamped in front of the breech. The pictured gun Ed calls a -1 is a -2 to me because of the monte carlo stock and recoil pad. Dan's in a newer than -4 model with the nice stock and modern looking plastic open sights and plastic trigger guard. Hard to see but it looks like a safety lever in front of the trigger. My B3 was the first gun I rebuilt. Knocked the rear sight off with a hammer and chisel. At the end it peeled a small piece of the receiver. Filed that down and had a gunsmith buddy mount a Weaver rail on the receiver. That also covered the hole. While the gunsmith had it a friend gave me the rear sight off his Ruger Mini 14 when he upgraded sights. The gunsmith cut a notch in the middle of the Weaver rail, drilled and taped a hole and mounted the the Mini 14 peep in the center of the rail. It has tall see-thru rings on it and a Hawke Sport HD 2-7x32 AO mildot lum scope on top of that. Shoots good with scope or peep. Exterior metal was good, still is. Tore it down, cleaned, light lube, new spring and leather piston seal and breech seal. It's had new spring and seals two or three times since. Refinished the stock with blue varnish. It had a sling ring on the cocking lever pivot bolt. Added one to the side of the butt stock off another old China gun and a web AK/SKS sling. Put a rubber slip over recoil pad on it made for the French Army Mas 49/56 7.5mm rifleLove that old gun. If the house burns down it'll be the one I follow out the window. The one I keep if I have to get rid of the rest. Gets to where I can't shoot anymore I'll lean it in the corner and wipe it down and oil it now and then. Sorry, too long winded, Later, Tim.
