Rats are back!

My first visit this year to the rat farm after my last coyote hunt there. Not much has changed. Rats are multiplying and coyotes still howling in the area.
I was only able to tag 10 rats this evening with my HW100T .22 shooting the Hades 16gr. I have been using the AA 16gr or the H&N Baracuda 15 in the past. Since I tried the Hades in my last couple of outings for rats, I have grown to liking these. It seemed the rats would just drop on the spot after impact and not running off as much. I guess the expansion of these Hades work.
I also had a chance to play with the new NV200 spotting scope from OneLeaf. It is a good unit to have for spotting as the display screen is big and easy to see. It is large and heavy so using a tripod is better and easier to operate. I set it up by pointing downrange and just watch the screen for movements. It records in 4K 30fps so the image quality is very good. This will definitely come in handy when I am doing my next coyote hunt.
Enjoy.

Great shooting! You were definitely whacking and stacking them in one location! LOL The OneLeaf 200 looks interesting. Looking forward to your review. I've got to get a larger adapter for my OneLeaf 100NV to fit my new 3-18X50 Monstrum scope that I mounted on the Prophet2. I haven't had a chance to use it as much as I would like.

@customcutter. Thanks. That ledge is a popular spot for the rats to stop at. Ya you need to order the right size adapter for sure. Hopefully I will get some time to review the NV200 soon.

Have you tried Baracuda Hunter Extreme's? They do some major damage with the expansion they have. I shoot mice and pretty much blow the back side out of them, I even cut one in half long ways with these pellets. If your gun like em give them a try, I think you'd be surprised. Nice shooting!

Great video! Did you pull the rat out of the hole by the whiskers? I'm watching a review of the scope right now. You sure made a coyote's night with that haul.
Just watched your review. Neat how it sat watching you. Two questions about the scope does it come with a neck strap to carry on you that way you can let it hang on your neck while transferring to the rifle to shoot? Also at 30fps would I have to scan slowly to prevent the view from being choppy so I could clearly see if any hogs or other critters were around me?

Max , just watched your video again. I went to my permission a couple times this past week . I've definitely cut down the rat population there (89 this yr).
Yesterday I sold most of my TC single shot barrel collection to a father & son from the area. So ,,, before the $$ could burn a hole in the pocket , I checked online for another ATN scope . Found that Midway had what I was after , and the weekly special added on an extra IR light ! I'm holding off shooting for a few more days as temps plummeted again along w/ wind. I have however started on the hosp's now visiting our bluebird condo. I , like you have found the Hades do a dandy job on rats even at sub 700fps . And the new offering Rifle brand Destroyers (16.66 gr)do as well at my current ranges & hit the same POA . I connected on a few starlings this week as well . Looking forward to warmer weather (of course , isn't everyone ?) and outdoor action .

Sorry for the late reply. Been busy renovation lately and no trigger time either.
@swingin. No I have not tried the BHE yet. I did receive a tin from H&N along with other ammo to try. I will try them out next time.
@Sqrl Klr. I used a tong to grab it out of the hole. They are too nasty to use my hands lol. Unfortunately the rat population is low recently and the weather was terrible. Hence I haven't been out there for two weeks now. Maybe more rats to come now? The NV200 has a strap just like a binoculars. If I want to use the recorded footages, then it must be mounted on a tripod to have good videos, otherwise, viewers would be throwing up as well, lol. You can really see the field downrange well with this NV200. The build in IR has many settings, but I think with an external 850nm IR, the image would be better as I have found that was the case when I used it together with my HW100 setup.
@martrage. Thank you. Sounds like you are pounding them rats hard as well. Good job. Weather here has been miserable as well with tons of snow. But it is slowly melting away and I am ready to get my gears to go out hunting soon.
@kbstingwing. Thank you. Yes Hades are a great pellet to use with my HW100. Less pass thru and rodents just get pinned and no running away as long as I hit the vitals area or near it.
Thank you all for watching. I am currently hunting coyotes at two locations. So hopefully I will get the next one... Stay tuned.
Thank you all for watching.
