4th squirrel with my P35-22

I got my P35s in 177 and 22 in June of this year. I used the 177 to take five squirrels and then switched to the 22 to take four now. All with the 22 have been in January in my backyard. I took this one about 7:30a this morning. We had light enough I could see him but the sun was still coming up. My dog Cola saw him first and got excited telling me to get my gun out of the coffee table. She alerted a couple times yesterday but I didn't see anything when we stepped out the back door. This time the squirrel ran up one of my half dozen large oak trees. I could not see where it stopped at first and didn't take time to put shoes on before heading out the door. So I gingerly waked over to where I have a gazebo and I could see this squirrels head. If I had taken time to adjust the parallax I might have been able to see it's body too. I ranged it after the fact and my rangefinder said it was a little over 8 horizontal yards and a 42 degree upward angle. I got a bit lucky on the pellet placement, I did not realize I was that close. I aimed at the head shooting offhand and hit it in front of the left front leg. The pellet came out the abdomen on the right side about half way back. It went right through the chest, in other words. The 15 ounce male did not even take one step. It fell lifeless to the ground and Cola grabbed it. She wouldn't bring it to me so I had to walk over there with my bare feet and take it from her. My P35-22 shoots 21 grain H&N Baracuda Match at about 835 fps. All four squirrels with it have been one shot kills with the pellet exiting each time. The other three were head shots that exited the top of the head. They were all smaller squirrels further away. I really enjoy my P35s. I got 18 with my 25 caliber before getting the 177 and 22.

Great shooting Jim. I have run to the backyard a couple of times without shoes and in cold weather too, when 1 of the neighborhood cats decides to come over for a free lunch before I 've had a chance to collect my harvest.
