is there a different degree of "collet draw" between 5C and ER32 collets?
I would define that as the amount of stock draw back into the collet holder when the collet is tightened after setting the stock to a length stop.
When the collet it tightened it retracts into the holder, drawing the stock back from the stop...theoretically.
Does the ER32 do this to a lesser degree than the 5C??
Or, vice versa..........
As the 5C is only tapered on the holder side, I would think that it dreas more than the ER32 which tapers into the holder as well as the nut in front.
However, the 5C taper is steeper and may grip with less retraction...
I wanted to use a term like "stuck" without the "t" but was censored......

You can lead a man to water, but you can't keep him from urinating in it.

You use a collet stop that fits inside the collet, you set it to the depth you want.
