I am thinking about (finally) wiring my drum reversing switch and emergency stop switch to my Logan 820.
I have been running it on 115v but have 230v single phase available.
Is there any reason to go 230v over 115v ?

You can lead a man to water, but you can't keep him from urinating in it.

230 volt requires about half the current of 115 volt for the same amount of power. This can reduce the size of the wire needed as well as reducing potential voltage drop in the wiring. Of course it will increase the price of the breaker as a two pole circuit breaker will be required. If you're using it as a plug in device you should also use a 230 volt plug and socket so nobody accidentally plugs a 115 volt device into it.

Your motor will likely start better and run cooler. Some motors I've used required me to rewire inside to allow reversing through a drum switch. Karl
