Looks like the stock might have been refinished.
Looks very similar to the one I had in the early 2000s. It was the first springer I owned and was new enough to have a synthetic piston seal. I refinished the stock on mine the best I could. Very poor quality wood, but had a rugged quality to it that I liked. The pictures of your rifle bring back many fond memories of that rifle. What kind of muzzle velocity are you getting with yours?
Going by the trigger and trigger guard and the iron sights, the scope mount and the way the front stock screw goes thru the sling mount it was made by Peak which became BAM then XS and then SPA, I think. Cool find with the scope mount and the engraved name. The scope mount in similar to the one on my old BAM B3-1 AK and on the new SPA B5-1 AK.

The finish looks like brushed-on semi-gloss varnish (you can see the brush marks), there's a little wood filler on the rear stock, not really smooth, but not too much, and you can even see some leftover saw marks on the right side. I'd say it's not been refinished, but who knows? Anyways, I like the rustic, rugged, ''mil-surp'' look, and it shoots well, especially after the tuning and mods I did
Mine are older I think a little different. I'm not to good with the pic's. Never saw one quiet like yours.

My B4 has a red almost paint-like finish, with squat butt stock that has a very short length of pull. Its one of the Sea Lion-era branded rifles.OP's rifle is much more handsome. Looks very similar to the SMK B4's abroad.

I get 3/8-1/2'' groups @ 18-20 yards with mine despite the heavy trigger. It's not too pellet picky, I get about the same accuracy with CPUM, H&N FTT and JSB Heavies.
