I'm going to be replacing the powerplant in my HW98 with a new stock spring and piston seal, but I'm wondering whether it would do any good to use a shortened OEM spring guide as a top hat. The main downside that I see is that top hats seem to usually be a tight fit on the spring but the spring guide wouldn't be. I may be able to get one machined, but it'd be a hassle so I'd rather not unless it's necessary.Is there anything else I should be looking at that isn't in the normal tweaking guides?
