Wanting to configure my rifle for benchrest, I decided to research custom stocks and quickly found out how expensive they are. So I consulted my tool and die maker buddy Luis and here's what we came up with. Works just fine and I saved quite a few pennies.

Outstanding ... Yup those flat iron spuds to fit a rest securely indeed help in BR.
Sadly your still going to get stock flex & bounce using that synthetic.
Wishing you All the best !!

Thanks Scott for the observation, it's an experiment and it didn't cost much. Can't see myself paying $800 bucks for a custom benchrest stock.

If your machinist buddy is willing to make a second version that extends further back closer to trigger guard and being able to also index the stock anchor screw you can get a better bedding of the action to the BR block.
Otherwise ... very cool !!

I'm going to have this piece made for the butt of the stock. It should add to the stability on the benchrest.

Here's the final finished configuration for benchrest. This fits the bill and was quite inexpensive compared to a proper benchrest stock. Next competitions will be in May.
