Title: new brake idea...
Post by: Pete on January 12, 2012, 03:51:34 AM
Ok..
I have been a bit slack the last 6 months..
I got a bit bored with AGs & resurrecting one
of my old pass times didn't help either..

That bored ! ..its summer here & I have not even
shot one rabbit the summer.. My record of 103 is safe this year..

yabba yabba yabba..  Now back on topic...

So I played around 2day with another brake/air striper idea..
Heres what I came up with... pretty simple & easy to spin up...
its bored to fit a Hatsan barrel..15mm

Pete,
I totally missed this.  Nice.  Did you drill the radiused ends of the slots through into the clearance bore?

Looks sweet!
Which one of your Hatsans is it for? If your going to put it on your mod 99 would you mind explaining how you get the stock plastic brake/sights off?

Another excellent air stripper Pete. And it's great to see you back to playing with BB guns on your new and bigger shop toys.
:)
Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing.
Happy Shooting!!!!

I used a dividing head with out the quadrant plates...
run a 4mm slot every 60* 1mm deeper then the wall thickness..
Then set the travel stop on the mill table so all slots are the same
length....

You would be a real toolmaker, unlike the new ones that stand
watching CNCs..

LOL... yer never go back...
measurements/weight/volume are all interlinked...
I'm quite lucky NZ changed from the imperial system
to the metric system while I was at school..so I done the first half
of my schooling using the imperial system..2nd with the metric
system... But have forgotten most of the finer points of the
imperial system over the years as its pretty much a unused
system here now...
LOL..I use the term inch or foot to my boy and hes looks at me funny..

Ha, ha.  I agree.  When I was in school 40-50 years ago, Sputnik, cold war, and all that,  they said, " we will be changing over to the metric system to be able to work with scientists around the world."  I really wish we had.
Like drilling with my tail stock.  Counting handle turns is .060" per rev, but markings on the tailstock ram are in mm, so I convert to mm.  Oh well, it works.
But yes, metric is nice.  Hey... I only have to speak one language, so learning two systems of measurement is easier than learning second language, LOL.
