I'm number 177, not because there are 176 before me, but because my personal speed record is 177mph. I did it on my old '96 Katana 750 with a gutted Vance and Hines, racing carbs, and plenty of other goodies.I know 177mph may not seem all that impressive, but it's hard to beat on the streets of Long Island(and survive).

I've done about the same on an 87 Ninja 900, also with a very loud hollowed out V&H, K&N carb kits and individual filters (no airbox), and a taller than stock back tire.Once got a ticket for exhibition of noise while doing wheelies in a parking lot on private property.
Well, those 392's.... could only imagine buying one for nostalgic reasons. Even the chinese make better, more innovative airguns these days. It's almost like still selling the T-Ford. Probably insulting a lot of hard core fans now.

So where are these Chinese pumpers that are better then... Indeed. Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm not against imported AG's, I just want to know what is innovative about these Chinese pumpers. I'm getting this out of a Chinese built Daisy 880 with 7.4's....... but it isn't Chinese innovation, it is the Chinese building to American specs.

I'm starting to think the new 397 I passed on a year ago Christmas for $80 might have been worth at least a looksee...HOPE YOU GOT A GOOD ONE
I have a 2014 392 and a 2000 (walnut stock) 392. They are both similarly accurate, and the only real difference is that the 2000 has a walnut stock. The beech (or whatever) stock on my 2014 is of similar fit, finish and density to the walnut stock on my 2K, and I expect it will last just as long. It just doesn't have that "look" that walnut has.In case you guys haven't noticed, walnut stocks are going away. The only sub-$500 new gun of any kind I can think of that still has a walnut stock is the Hatsan 95, and I would not be at all surprised if they are just selling old stock now (as opposed to still actually making them). Look at the stockmakers; Boyd's for example. They don't even sell many walnut stocks anymore. Most of their stocks are plywood. The other big stockmaker, Fajen, is out of business as far as I can tell.I read an article by a long-time stockmaker who says that stock-grade walnut is all but extinct now.A 392 is a mass-produced gun. That's why it is $150. Show me another $150 gun that matches the quality of a good one. Even the German-made RWS 34, which is twice the price of a 392, doesn't have a walnut stock; and they had started using Chinese barrels. Probably still are.If you looked at a couple of 392s at Academy and they were poor quality, I would bring that to the attention of the department manager and ask him/her to find you a better one. Or go to a different store and see what they have available. Or maybe even call up Crosman and talk the rep into picking out a good one for you, to ship directly to your home. I've called Crosman and unlike most companies now, I got a real American who actually worked for Crosman (as opposed to some call center) and was genuinely helpful. Try to find that with a Chinese gun.If you get one and it doesn't shoot well or has some other problem, make use of the one-year warranty to get it fixed or replaced.Of course another option is to buy an older used one. That's how I got my older 392. But keep in mind that when you buy used, you get what you get. There is no warranty. Unless the seller grossly misrepresented what he was selling, if that nice walnut-stocked gun only shoots 2 inches at 10 yards, it's yours if the seller is unwilling to take it back.
Some of you need to read and understand others' posts before posting your snide replies. I never said my Webley was better or had incredible anything. I was stating that it's a matter of personal preference as to what any shooter likes. I'd get a Benjamin in a heartbeat if I could afford it. The other post that ragged the Benjamin pumpers wasn't the kind of thing I'd say. I don't rag anybody for their likes/dislikes.
