It's been over 4 years since I've hunted the squirrel woods with the old R9. I put it together when I was in search of the perfect squirrel rifle before the Diana compacts hit the market- they look great right out of the box. The stubby R9 is shooting twang-free and stronger than ever with a fresh Hornet spring pushed over an OEM HW50S guide, one JM spacer, and a properly sized Hornet seal. After about 20 shots, I recorded a 10 shot string of FTT 8.64 avg 885 SD 6. This young buck was taken around 20 yards as he foraged the forest floor. I am very happy to have made a successful stalk and put the pellet right where I wanted.
I'm also pleased that the field dressing went well with very little hair or debris stuck to it.
Thanks for reading. Hunt safely.
