Cool! Now that she see's seen the advantages of shooting a round target through a round hole in the front sight - it should be easy to convince her to add another round hole at the back, LOL...!
In all seriousness, for target shooting an aperture rear sight is da bomb. I think she'd love it, and find an instant performance upgrade. FWIW, here's how my old R7 is currently set up...

Chris: the front-sight adjustable ring is too cool!
Here's some front-sight gadgets I've accumulated over the years. The muzzle in the pic is an early-60's-vintage HW 55, with a low front sight using the old "M17" sleeve thread (i.e., 17 x 0.5 mm). M17 was used in vintage Walther, HW, and Diana match sights; and in HW and Diana sporters to this day.
A: An M 17 "eagle eye" lens (which is theaded, but the sight isn't! I must've been force-fit back in the day, and is NOT coming out!).
B. An ancient Gehmann M17 adjustable ring. This goes in the rear of the front sight tunnel, replacing the sleeve that clamps the OEM metal inserts.
C. A Gehmann M17 adjustable-width post.
D. An old M18 eagle eye. 1.5x magnification, fits in the front of the front sight tunnel, forward of the element insert.

So cool. Love seeing all the different takes on solutions to the same problem.

Mike and other masters of the peep. We shot at 10 m this morning with Kim's HW30S and my "new" Diana 34 T05. Even with the stock sights both shot extremely well., hole in hole when we did our jobs. Which is a little more difficult with middle-aged eyes ha ha. I'd like to put a hunting peep on the rear and I assume the Williams FP are the way to go. I see two versions, the AG for guns with high lines of sight and the GR for low lines of sight. See that several people said they had issues with the AG version on Weihrauch so I assume the GR version for Kim's gun. Any idea which works best on the Diana Model 34? Thanks.

To be perfectly honest: I don't know! It's hard to say due to the individual variations between guns. I have one 25-year-old R7 with an FP-AG on it, and don't own a D34.
The AG is by far the most common choice for barrel-cocking springers, since they usually have some barrel droop (i.e., the line-of-sight slopes upward slightly compared to the top of the receiver tube). The GR is really made for .22 rimfires with no droop.
That being said, my R7 is dialed in for 10 meters, and the sight is adjusted so low that a GR would probably work fine - same on a Williams-equipped HW 55. And the D34 has a mounting rail instead of cut grooves, which again might push toward the GR (i.e., the sight is "pre-raised" a bit).
One annoyance with putting either Williams on the R7 is having to work around the safety button. For me at least, that puts the eye disk farther forward than is my preference for target shooting.
It might be prudent to get an AG, and try it out on both guns? It will almost certainly work on at least one, and give you guidance for the other. OR...maybe someone with experience will jump in with a less wishy-washy answer! 😳

Thanks, Mike. I hadn’t even thought about the safety on the Weihrauch. Kim undecided on whether she wants a rear peep. Front circle really improved her shooting with this gun and she’s pretty happy. I’ll see what the folks at AoA have to say about which version to use.

Mike, as an FYI the FP-AG-TK worked very well on my TO5 trigger Diana 34. This gun has a front dovetail with a tunnel sight so it sits up fairly high. Fat little post with a pointed tip. Hard to see against a dark background but still worked well.

Excellent! Thanks for the follow-up, glad the sight works and you're having fun with it.
I too have a lot of trouble seeing the tip of a pointed "barleycorn" post. I use ring-type front sight elements for sighting-in and target shooting, but my all-round favorite front sight is a "beaded" post. Here is the set of elements that came with my old Diana 60 target rifle - the bead is the bottom one.
As far as I know, current Diana front inserts are the same size and tab pattern as these vintage ones. And note, old FWB and Walther front sight inserts also fit Dianas - something to keep in mind when poking around at shows or auction sites, etc.

Thanks, Mike. If you’re talking about the bottom insert in your pic, that’s the ticket. Had a peep rear and tunnel site with that post on an old Remington .22 target rifle. Shoot the hair off a gnat’s rear end with that gun. Used to shoot snakes and scorpions on the range while all the camp kids oohed and ahhed. No replaceable inserts on this gun. Will have to find something with inserts for the front eventually.
