Scope loses focus after a shot

Hello all,
I have a nice Hawk Vantage 14160 3-12x44 Side Focus scope that has been mounted solely on an HW35E for some 1500-2000 shots (3-4 tins over seven years) and today the scope changed focus after a shot. The sight picture lost a little sharpness after today's first shot, I refocused, then the sharpness changed substantially after the second shot and I left it. I set the gun down to investigate the scope after checking in with the brain trust at GTA.
Some info:
I don't know if the rifle has droop or if the erector tube is at the slack end of its adjustment.
I think that finding the optical center of the scope would reveal an extreme adjustment. I'll check.
The reticle doesn't appear to have moved, which people report after their scope was springer-killed.
The scope is mounted with both rings clamped evenly across the dovetail, and the rear scope stop is in the hole.
I don't know if the grab screw of the focus adjustment knob has loosened, I'll check if it even has one.
This is the first scope to act up on me and I've never had to fiddle with one. Don't worry, I'm not going to take it apart. Any ideas as to what is going on and maybe a fix would be much appreciated.
Thank you!
Will

Will, I would contact Hawke and see what they say....hopefully a warranty will remedy this.

Call Hawke. They will give you a RMA and will likely replace it. You'll have to pay the freight to return it. I have the same scope and probably eight other Hawkes. On the rare occasion I've had an issue they've always taken care of it. The Vantage line isn't technically springer rated. They will warrantee them on up to 12fpe springers. Your HW35 should fall under that.

In my personal experience, Hawke's warranty service is stellar.
They will make it right.
