Quote from: kerplunk on December 04, 2021, 08:55:14 AMWith 18.13 gr pellets, mine was starting at ~970 FPS and was down to ~930 FPS by shot 12 and 880 FPS by shot 24 (3k PSI fill and hammer and power adjuster full open). Based on other reports of this platform shooting a nice bell curve/plateau ~850-900 FPS with this pellet weight, I think filling to 3200 would have been worse, not better. 970fps w/JSB 18.1gr? That is more powerful than any Akela video I have watched. Mine is the same as most Akelas starting at 905-908fps on 3k fill at max. power with 18.1. Are you sure you didn't mean 15.9gr or 14.3? After a full mag of 12 shots mine is down to 870 or usually a decrease 36-40fps. And it gets worse with the 2nd mag.. So it looks like there is a spring adjuster than should be turned CCW all the way, and this will improve consistency?

Quote from: Knothead on December 01, 2021, 11:27:56 AMMine came yesterday. Dads here, we adjusted the trigger and looked it over last night. High scope rings came too so we installed thst. Chrono will start in a few. Hope the knockouts come soon. Interested in the spring mod How do you adjust the trigger? Is there a video or instructions? The manual does not mention anything. My Akela .22 came in today and the trigger has ZERO travel. It breaks right away as soon as you put your finger on the trigger shoe. It's a hair trigger and I know I am going to be discharging it prematurely all the time. It's 1lb pull at the very most. I have 1.5 and 1.8lb triggers and this feels much lighter. I would say around 0.7-0.8 lbs. You touch it and boom. It has zero 1st stage

Any chance the moderators can move the tuning part of this thread out of the Bargain gate and over to the PCP gate?JMJinNC
k fellas/fellettes, copied this over from another topic, thought it may help here too. I’ve got 48 shots with 16 gr AA starting mid 870’s up to 886 and down to 862. Five turns in on adjuster. Zero preload on hammer spring (this one is much shorter than stock)Here’s the dimensions for the spring I’ve put in my Akela:Wire diameter: 1.4 mmID: 9.35 mmOD: 12.15 mmLength: 62.1 mm (uncompressed)Just to clarify-I DID NOT swap out hammers; this is a simple spring change. Can’t remember where I got these, but going thru my mess, possible candidates are: Gardner Spring (800) 331-3263W.B. Jones Spring Co. www.springsfast.comOr McMaster Carr. Really hope this helps somebody get their shot strings to more of a bell curve like I have experienced.
The Mrod springs are too big in diameter to fit in the hammer pocket and too short for this application. If you take the 177 spring out, I’d be interested in the dimensions and wire dia. I suspect it is the same spring as the 22, but the schematics I have only cover 22/25.
Quote from: Thane on November 20, 2021, 02:49:32 AMVery balanced ports really does not need regulator. My .22 Akela shoots 50 shots at 30FPE within 2.7% ES. How did you tune it to get there (hammer spring adjustment, port restrictor setting, etc)? What pelllet, what is the start PSI and PSI for the 50 shots, also min and max velocity? If you still have them, please post some shot strings.
