Advice on Benjamin 342 repair

I have a 342 tootsie roll that I’m try to repair and I’m unable to figure out the problem. I bought this rifle used in unworking condition. This is the first time I’m attempting a Benjamin repair and ordered a couple kits from Mac1.
I cleaned the tubes and installed the parts but it won’t hold air. As I pump the air escapes possibly from the valves. I took it apart and reassembled at least a dozen times switching seals, outlet and inlet valves. Swapping both the new and old parts but same result.
Would you have any suggestions what might be the problem? I’m confident that I’m installing the parts correctly as I triple checked the diagrams and watched the you tube vids on how it’s done.
Thank you.

Air leak was out the barrel. It’s now “fixed” and doesn’t leak air and seem so have good power. Couple of things I did differently this time was I used silicone grease to hold everything together when I placed valve - as seen I a you tube vid. My valve tool also slipped in the nut. The square section was too short and slipped out. I filed the tool so that the square section would sit farther into nut. This allowed it to be torqued down tighter.
Another Question...at 2 pumps, there is still air in the valve so if I pull back the bolt and fire there is still quite a good “pop”. Is this normal or should it be dumping all the air? If not normal, what could be adjusted to get more air out?
Thanks again.

Sounds like maybe your hammer spring is fatigued. Try stretching it a little and see if that helps.

needs a new hammer spring as just stretching it won't cure it for long
you could try shimming it but it could go coilbound
