WOWSER, WOWSER!A little patience and a very light grip and cheek weld produced this 5 shot 30 yard group this afternoon. The pellets were CPLD that chronied at 843 fps with a SD of 4.4. That's five shots well within a 1/2" circle, boys and girls. Color me tickled PINK. I think my R9 has grown into a keeper.
I owned 2 R9's in .22 and both were twangy so I tuned them. One with Mccarri and one with Vortek with CP's shooting from 705-715 after tune. Accuracy was the same before and after but they just had a better shot cycle. I was pretty happy with my accuracy with those guns shooting probably 3/4"-1" groups at 35 yards. I just thought that was good enough at that distance and shot plenty of squirrels with them. I bought an RWS 34 Classic .22 in wood stock for my son that had a Vortek kit in it from the previous owner. It shot FTT's at 730 fps. I didn't like the 34 stock as it just didn't feel as good as my R9 and wasn't as comfortable to shoulder. However after shooting that uncomfortable rifle I found out how good a springer could shoot. It constantly outshot my R9's every time with much smaller groups and seemed to be less hold sensitive. I thought R9 was a better built, better looking and better handling rifle but the 34 I had was a better shooter. They may not all be like that but that was my experience.
I can put 5 in a half inch at 25 yards all day long with my HW95 .22. I'm usually putting 5 shots touching, as long as I pay attention. At least my HW95 .22 is just as accurate as anything else on this thread. It does, however, like the 5.55mm head FTTs. It used to like the predator GTO a LOT, but the last batch of pellets didn't shoot nearly as tight, so back to the FTT.All that said, I don't shoot it a lot. It's my "extra gun in case I have no compressed air" gun.

I couldn't hope for that kind of accuracy with my HW springers or my shooting skills sitting on a bucket resting the HW95 or R9 on cross sticks! LOL.....I do have occasional dumb luck tight 50 yard groups with my .177 R9 & .177 HW95........... The 30 yard CPL group isn't too bad for me but I can't do this "all day long" even when I'm shooting well........
I'm pleasantly surprised with an occasional five shot group in a 1/2" circle at 30 yards. If I did that all day long, I think I'd get bored.

FWIW my R9 seems sensitive on the bench , but when shooting MS or little plastic dinosaurs at 25 yards it is a very solid easy to shoot rifle.
