It is the earliest version of the gun given the flat sides on the receiver where the pellet goes in. It would be in the 1920’s probably. To get one in good shape is very difficult given most were hard used guns. This has been repainted so hard to tell what shape it was in. But as you say it has some issues. I’m still looking for a nice one of that era, this isn’t it. I’m amazed these guys will hold these high prices forever it seems, no way will he get that?

I think they all moved to planet crack lol. I bought a early model for $72 not to long ago and and a later version for $80 . A functioning 100 just sold for $175 iirc. The most I have spent was $129 for a late model 3 for that was resealed .

The same seller has several other grossly overpriced guns that have been listed there for months. Don't know where he got the idea they are worth so much. That "period one" 101 has a later production, five ring cocking knob on it. He does have a model 120 starting at $99, quite reasonable.

These are very common guns in that that made them for 25 years and they made a ton of them. My take:
1. These are the best vintage pump air guns period.
2. The prewar gun were better built
3. Almost all have been worked to death or abused and fall short of the above. They were mostly made during the depression when hunting was a little more important than target shooting.
4. Trying to find one in excellent condition without alteration and not “restored” is not that easy at all, but worth the quest.

Agreed with what everyone has mentioned here. That thing would have to have some kind of wow factor happening but far from it. I'd rather have a couple of nice Dan's, Benji's, or Crosmans for that kind of cash.
On second thought maybe it would be nice if these would sell for that kind of $. Then we'd all triple, quadruple or fiveuple our $.

i think this seller and one other are trying their best to get the price of the early guns up
as mentioned above they have been selling around the 100$ & less mark for a long time
i bought most of my collection for less
